Overview

Completely redesigned for the 2010 model year, the midsize, luxury-oriented 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe arrive with 6- or 8-cylinder engine choices and rear- or all-wheel drive. The all-new E-Class coupe model replaces the CLK-Class in the automaker's lineup.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe - Model Overview

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available as a coupe for the first time in 2010. The new model replaces the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, at a lower price. The new E-Class coupe is a rear-wheel-drive 4-seater, and is available with either a V-6 or a V-8 engine. It will compete with the Audi A5, BMW 3 Series, and the Infiniti G37 coupes, among others.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe is offered in two models: E350 and E550. The E350 features 17-inch wheels, variable-damping "Agility Control" suspension, leather upholstery, sport seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, power accessories, and 8-speaker sound system. Various option packages can include 18-inch wheels, sport-tuned suspension, additional safety features, hard-drive-based navigation system with voice commands, heated and ventilated front seats, premium Harman Kardon surround-sound system, more power features, and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights. The larger wheels are standard on the E550 trim, which also features a sport suspension, stronger brakes, and a sport body kit.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 coupe model features a 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. The E350 delivers 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The E550 coupe model employs a 382-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission; it delivers 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Standard safety features on the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, a full complement of air bags, Mercedes-Benz's Pre-Safe system (which closes the sunroof and braces passengers if impact is imminent), and the Attention Assist system, which sounds an alarm if the driver appears to be losing focus. In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe received 5 out of 5 stars on all impact tests. The E-Class coupe also received the highest-possible "Good" ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in its tests.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan - Model Overview

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan is a complete redesign, available in several models with a choice of three engines and rear-wheel or 4Matic all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz has lowered the price of the new E-Class Sedan by about $5,000 from the previous year. This re-tooled luxury sedan seats five, and competes with the Jaguar XF, BMW 5 Series, and the Infiniti M-Series sedans, among others.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan is offered in three models: E350, E550, and E63 AMG. The E350 features 17-inch wheels, variable-damping "Agility Control" suspension, vinyl upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, power accessories, COMAND electronic interface, and 8-speaker sound system. Various option packages include 18-inch wheels, sport-tuned suspension, additional safety features, hard-drive-based navigation system with voice commands, heated and ventilated front seats, premium Harman Kardon surround-sound system, more power features, and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights.

A V-8 engine is standard on the E550 trim, which also features air suspension, stronger brakes, and leather upholstery with heated seats. The E63 AMG features a higher-performance V-8 engine, adjustable drive settings, high-performance brakes, adaptive sport suspension, and the E550's standard features. Optional on the E63 AMG are 19-inch wheels, limited-slip differential, and stiffer suspension, among other enhancements.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 Sedan features a 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. The E550 Sedan employs a 382-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. The E63 AMG Sedan features a 518-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift controls.
