This performance luxury sedan is also equipped with hill-start assist, hill-hold assist, rain-sensing wipers, and an Attention Assist drowsy driver detection system.

For additional cost, each of these systems adds technology that can actively correct the vehicle's course if the driver is unresponsive to audible warnings. The active versions of these features are bundled with Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control with Pre-Safe Brake technology. With this system, the car automatically maintains a safe distance from traffic ahead, automatically accelerating and braking as is necessary. Pre-Safe Brake readies the braking system to provide maximum stopping power if the sensors detect an imminent danger, and can prepare the car for a crash by closing the windows and repositioning the seats for impact.
A Night View Assist Plus with Pedestrian Detection system displays infrared images of the road ahead, including pedestrians that may have stepped into the darkened road.
As this overview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG.
