Exterior Features
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class is a large 2-door luxury coupe available in four trim levels. Eighteen-inch wheels and a sunroof are standard on the base CL550 model.

Interior Features
The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class seats 4 passengers and has 13.5 cubic feet of trunk space. Standard amenities on the base model include keyless ignition/entry, leather upholstery and trim, heated and ventilated power front seats, and Bluetooth connectivity. Also standard are Mercedes-Benz' mbrace emergency telematics and the COMAND electronics interface, which controls the navigation system and the premium surround-sound audio system with CD changer, HD satellite radio, and iPod interface.

Optional Features
Mercedes-Benz groups most of the options for the CL-Class into several packages. The Driver Assistance package adds blind-spot and lane-departure warning systems, adaptive cruise control, and crash detection with automatic braking. The Premium 2 package adds an infrared night vision display and massaging front seats, while the Sport Package Plus One adds 20-inch AMG wheels with high-performance tires and sport body styling.

Under the Hood
Mercedes-Benz base CL550 models are fitted with a 4.7-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine rated at 429 horsepower, while CL600 models have a larger 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-12 delivering 510 horsepower.  The CL63 AMG trim line is equipped with a 5.5-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine rated at 536 horsepower, and the top-of-the-line CL65 AMG is fitted with a 6.0-liter, twin-turbo V-12 engine rated at 621 horsepower. All CL-Class models are rear-wheel drive, with the exception of the base CL550, which has all-wheel drive. While an automatic transmission is standard across the CL-Class model range, each has a different version.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class are:
- CL550: 15/24/18 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- CL600: 12/18/14 mpg
- CL63 AMG: 15/22/18 mpg
- CL65 AMG: 12/18/14 mpg

Standard safety features on the CL-Class include Mercedes-Benz' Mbrace emergency telematics, driver knee air bag, front and rear side air bags, and active front head restraints.

To date, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have tested the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class.
