The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a compact "executive" car with luxury and performance features, touted as an affordable entry to the manufacturer's lineup. The coupe and the sedan versions of the 2012 C-Class are available in four iterations: C250, C300 4Matic (sedan only), C350, and C63 AMG. The C250 and C350 are offered in Luxury and Sport trim. The sedan's fourth trim is the C300 4Matic, and the coupe offers the high-performance C63 AMG Black Series. The C250 and C300 trims include 17-inch wheels, automatic headlights, and a sunroof (which is panoramic on the C250 coupe). The C63 AMG trim features 18-inch wheels with performance tires.
Standard interior equipment on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class includes dual-zone automatic climate control, full range of power features and driver memory functions, and premium vinyl upholstery. Upgrades are added at each trim level. The AMG Black Series offers a 2-seat interior with many sporty elements.
Option packages include leather upholstery, extended leather trim, heated front seats, premium Harman Kardon audio system, sportier suspension, COMAND information package, bi-Xenon headlights, and many safety features.
Under the Hood
Five engine options are available on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The C250 features a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 201 horsepower mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The C300 4Matic employs a 3.0-liter, 228-horsepower V-6 engine. The C350 features a 3.5-liter, 302-horsepower V-6 engine. The C63 AMG and the C63 AMG Black Series both offer a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which delivers 451 and 510 horsepower to the respective models. All models use rear-wheel drive except the C300, which features all-wheel drive.

In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the C-Class received "Good" ratings--the Institute's highest--in all tests, and was named a "Top Safety Pick" for 2012.
