The 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman is a small crossover SUV, all new for this year. It has four side doors and a hatchback, and seats four. Like other Cooper models, the Countryman's base trim is not fancy, but its long list of optional upgrades can bring it to a fairly high level of luxury.

The base 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman features 17-inch alloy wheels, vinyl upholstery, 6-speaker sound system, cruise control, air conditioning, and some power accessories. Compared to regular Cooper models, the Countryman features sport seats, fog lights, and a snappier exterior. Options include 18-inch wheels, a sportier suspension, keyless entry and ignition, automatic headlights, xenon headlights, adaptive headlights, automatic climate controls, partial or full leather upholstery, heated front seats, premium sound system, upgraded controls, navigation system, and Bluetooth connectivity. The rear seats can slide a few inches forward or back to create maximum leg room or a larger cargo area. With rear seats lowered, the Countryman provides 41.3 cubic feet of cargo space, according to the manufacturer.

The 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman's standard power plant is a 121-horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive (FWD) and a 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The base-level Countryman delivers 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The Countryman S features a turbocharged, 181-horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, with the same choice of transmission, that delivers 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway with FWD or 23/30 with optional all-wheel drive and automatic transmission.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags. Traction control and rear parking sensors are optional; traction control is standard on the S trim.

Starting MSRP for the 2011 Mini Cooper Countryman is $21,650.
