Exterior Features
The 2013 Mini Cooper Clubman is longer than the Mini Cooper Hardtop with a third "Clubdoor" for easier access to the back seat and rear "barn" doors that swing open to either side. It is available in standard, S, and John Cooper Works (JCW) trim.

The new Mini Cooper Clubvan is a commercial vehicle with no side windows, a flat rear-load floor, and a cabin partition behind the front seats. It is sold in a single level of specification similar to that of the base Clubman.

Interior Features
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, Bluetooth, power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and cruise control. Clubmans have a 6-speaker sound system with HD Radio and USB/iPod/Aux. connections. Clubvans feature 30.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity and an 816-pound payload rating.

Optional Features
The Mini Cooper Clubman and Clubvan can be optioned with a long list of packages, extra-cost features, and accessories. Highlights include a variety of aluminum wheel designs, sport seats, leather upholstery, adaptive xenon headlights, automatic climate control, navigation system, and Mini Connected technology. The Clubman is also offered with a panoramic sunroof, premium Harman/Kardon sound system, Recaro front seats, and more.

Under the Hood

All 2013 Clubman and Clubvan models are equipped with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In standard format, the engine generates 121 horsepower. The turbocharged Cooper Clubman S generates 181 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque that peaks between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm. The Cooper Clubman JCW models are even more powerful, with 208 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque, the latter available from 1,850 to 5,000 rpm. The turbocharged engines include an "Overboost" function that increases torque output for short periods of time.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Mini Cooper Clubman and Clubvan models are:
  • Clubman and Clubvan: 27/35/30 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Clubman S/JCW with manual transmission: 26/35/29 mpg
  • Clubman S/JCW with automatic transmission: 26/34/29 mpg

Safety
The 2013 Mini Cooper Clubman and Clubvan models are equipped with 6 air bags, Dynamic Stability Control and 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and cornering brake control. Traction control and rear park-assist sensors are optional.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not assessed the Mini Cooper's crashworthiness as this overview is written. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates the Mini Cooper lineup as "Good" in the moderate overlap frontal-impact test, "Acceptable" in the side-impact test, "Good" in the rear-impact injury prevention test, and "Acceptable" in the roof crush strength test.
