Exterior FeaturesThe 1938 Lincoln-Zephyr inspired the redesigned 2013 MKZ's split-wing grille design, and the new MKZ features adaptive LED headlights, LED taillights, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The trunk measures 15.4 cubic feet.
Interior FeaturesAll 2013 MKZs are equipped with premium leather, real wood trim, metallic cabin accents, and Active Noise Control technology. The MKZ also features a 10-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, Sync connectivity, MyLincoln Touch infotainment system, automatic climate control, premium sound system, and full-color LCD instrumentation.
Optional FeaturesOptions are grouped into Select, Reserve and Preferred equipment packages. The Select package includes a wood steering wheel, ambient lighting, reversing camera, and rear park-assist sensors. The Reserve package adds navigation, power trunk closer, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert. The Preferred package includes a heated steering wheel, polished 19-inch aluminum wheels, and a THX II Certified audio system. Additional options include a standard moonroof or panoramic glass retractable roof, inflatable rear outboard seat belts, power rear sunshade, and multi-contour front seats with massage.
Under the HoodThe 2013 MKZ is available with a turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine creating 240 horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine good for 300 horsepower, or a hybrid powertrain generating a combined 188 horsepower. The MKZ Hybrid has an Atkinson-cycle 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, Lithium-ion battery pack, and an electric assist motor.
A 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is standard with the EcoBoost and V-6 engines, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. The MKZ Hybrid is equipped with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD).
All 2013 MKZs feature a continuously controlled damping suspension and push-button shifting via buttons arrayed vertically on the control panel. Lincoln Drive Control is also standard, allowing the driver a selection of Comfort, Normal and Sport driving modes.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Lincoln MKZ are:
- MKZ FWD with 4-cylinder engine: 22/33/26 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- MKZ FWD with V-6 engine: 19/28/22 mpg
- MKZ AWD with 4-cylinder engine: 22/31/25 mpg
- MKZ AWD with V-6 engine: 18/26/21 mpg
- MKZ Hybrid: 45/45/45 mpg
SafetyIn addition to the optional safety features mentioned above, the 2013 MKZ is available with a Technology package that includes a Lane Keeping System with Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Keeping Assist, and Driver Assist safety technologies, as well as Auto High Beam headlights, rain-sensing wipers and an adaptive cruise control system featuring collision warning and brake support.
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the 2013 MKZ as this overview is written.
