Models and Features
Each version of the 2015 Lexus RX is well equipped in standard format. Selected highlights include dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, genuine wood trim, electroluminescent gauges, Smart Access passive entry with push-button starting, and a power tailgate. This year, Lexus adds a standard 12-speaker Display Audio system with a 7-in. touch screen and a reversing camera, and continues to include Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, HD Radio, and satellite radio. Additionally, the RX 350 is equipped with a universal remote control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, water-repellant front door glass, LED running lights, LED taillights, fog lights, and 18-in. aluminum wheels.

Lexus builds the RX 350 F Sport model for driving enthusiasts. Superchrome-finish aluminum wheels. Inside, the RX 350 F Sport gets black leather seats with contrast stitching, heated and ventilated front seats, black headliner, Lexus Memory System, and a power sunroof. Additional upgrades for this variant include auto-dimming heated and power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and roof rails.

Most of the options offered for the 2015 Lexus RX are bundled into packages, with a few available as separate upgrades. Two different grades of perforated leather are available, along with heated and ventilated front seats, power front seat cushion extenders, heated wood-and-leather steering wheel, and a Lexus Memory System.

In addition, buyers can choose to equip the RX with a power sunroof, HID headlights, LED headlights, LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, and a set of 19-in. aluminum wheels. Lexus also provides several safety-related upgrades for the 2015 Lexus RX, discussed in greater detail below.

Under the Hood
The 2015 Lexus RX 350 is equipped with a 270-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine that powers the front wheels. All-wheel-drive is optional. In standard format, a 6-speed automatic transmission is included in this crossover SUV. Choose the RX 350 F Sport and an 8-speed automatic transmission is standard.

For more power and greater fuel economy the Lexus RX 450h features a 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with an electric assist motor, nickel-metal hydride battery pack, continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a regenerative braking system. Taken together, this powertrain generates 295 horsepower and motivates the front wheels. An all-wheel-drive version is also available.

Fuel Economy
Depending on the model and whether the optional AWD system is present, the 2015 Lexus RX 350 is rated to return at least 18 mpg in the city and up to 25 mpg on the highway. Choose the 2015 Lexus RX 450h and the ratings range from 32 mpg in the city to 28 mpg on the highway.

Safety Ratings and Technology
As this overview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the 2015 Lexus RX.

Standard safety equipment includes 10 air bags, a reversing camera, and Safety Connect services including automatic collision notification and an emergency assistance button. Smart Stop Technology is also standard for the RX, a safety feature designed to make it impossible for the SUV to accidentally accelerate as long as the driver is pressing down on the brake pedal.

Optional safety features for the 2015 Lexus RX include rain-sensing wipers, a blind-spot monitor, pre-collision system that snugs the seat belts and readies the braking system to deliver maximum stopping power as soon as the driver steps on the pedal, and Pre-Collision Braking that can automatically apply the brakes to reduce speed prior to impact.
