Exterior Features
The 2012 Lexus LS is a large luxury sedan offered in standard and long wheelbases, with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) and optional all-wheel drive (AWD), as well as in a hybrid version that comes in the long-wheelbase form. Standard features on the LS 460 include 18-inch wheels, power-folding and heated exterior mirrors, fog lamps, and adaptive and automatic Xenon headlamps. On the 600h L hybrid, 19-inch alloy wheels and LED projector headlights are standard.

Interior Features
The Lexus LS 460 standard features include sunroof, cruise control, keyless ignition and entry, 16-way power driver seat, 12-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, wood trim, auto-dimming mirrors, rearview camera, and 10-speaker sound system. The LS 600h L hybrid model features a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, power rear sunshade, and 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system.

Optional Features
Many amenities on the 2012 Lexus LS are bundled into packages for both the LS 460 and LS 600h L versions and include reclining rear seats, power rear seats with lumbar massage and power butterfly headrests, wood-trimmed retractable table, refrigerated beverage cooler, rear-seat entertainment systems, rear window shades, fixed rear center console, infrared temperature sensors for rear seats, and adaptive cruise control.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Lexus LS 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine rated at 380 horsepower and mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD). All-wheel drive (AWD) is available. The 600h L is powered by two electric-motor generators and a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, which, combined, deliver 438 horsepower.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Lexus LS are:
- LS 460/LS 460 L with RWD: 16/24/19 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- LS 460/LS 460 L with AWD: 16/23/18 mpg
- LS 600h L: 19/23/20 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the 2012 Lexus LS 460 and 600h L include stability control, a battery of air bags, emergency telematics, and an optional package with adaptive cruise control and brake-response optimization and crash preparedness.

To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not tested the 2012 Lexus LS 460 or the 600h L. In safety tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Lexus LS received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for frontal-impact and rear-impact crash protection.
