Overview

The LS is Lexus' flagship luxury sedan. The LS 460, introduced in 2006, is the current iteration, and a hybrid version, the Lexus LS 600h L, is also available. Both have received extensive upgrades for the 2010 model year. The LS 460 is also available in a long-wheelbase version, known as the LS 460 L. The LS 600h L is rated as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) by the US government. It employs the LS 460 L's long (121.7-inch) wheelbase.

The 2010 Lexus LS 460 features 18-inch wheels, a full menu of power accessories (including heated front seats that adjust 16 ways on the driver's side and 12 ways on the passenger's side), and a 10-speaker sound system. Many options are available. The 460 L offers several upgrades that take advantage of the extra leg room. The 600h L steps up to 19-inch alloy wheels, and adds many of the 460's options as standard equipment. Further options include extra amenities in the rear, 4-zone climate control, an entertainment system, and many other enhancements, including an active suspension stabilizer and adaptive cruise control.

The 2010 Lexus LS 460 features a 380-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. According to the EPA, it delivers 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway with rear-wheel drive. The power plant on the Lexus LS 600h L consists of a 389-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 engine that works with two electric motor/generators and a continuously variable transmission with manual shift control and three driving modes. According to the EPA, the LS 600h L delivers 20 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

Safety features on the 2010 Lexus LS include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, front side air bags, side curtain air bags, and knee air bags. The LS 600h L includes the Safety Connect emergency communications system.
