What's New for 2012:
- Color-keyed body side molding with chrome, except on the standard model
- High-gloss wheels on the higher trim
The 2012 Lexus GX 460, the largest and heaviest model in the brand's lineup, weighing in at over 5,100 pounds, is a 7-passenger luxury SUV offered in two trim levels. The GX 460 includes adaptive suspension and adaptive stabilizer bars for a smoother ride, Lexus says. An available "crawl control" feature enables off-road use by providing drivers more steering control, while the vehicle modulates the brakes and throttle.
Standard amenities on the Lexus GX 460 include a sunroof; leather upholstery; leather-wrapped and tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; 8-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats with power lumbar; driver memory settings; power-folding third-row seats; auto-dimming rearview mirror; rearview camera; Bluetooth and iPod connectivity; satellite radio; and a 9-speaker audio system.
As options on the Lexus GX 460 base model and as part of the Premium package, features include variable suspension and crawl control, auto-dimming side-view mirrors, adaptive Xenon headlights, upgraded leather upholstery, heated steering wheel trimmed with wood, heated second-row seats, and rear air conditioning.
Under the Hood
The 2012 Lexus GX 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine rated at 301 horsepower and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Lexus GX 460 are 15/20/17 mpg (city/highway/combined).
Standard safety features on the Lexus GX 460 include anti-lock brakes; traction and stability control; hill-descent control; hill-start assist; air bags in all three rows; and optional adaptive cruise control with a collision-mitigation system, lane-departure warning, and distracted-driver alerts.
To date, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have rated the 2012 Lexus GX 460.
