Overview

The Lexus ES is a midsize luxury sedan that was originally introduced in late 1989 for the 1990 model year. It was one of the brand's first models, as parent Toyota Motor Co. launched its all-new Lexus luxury division that year. The first-generation ES was based on a Japanese Toyota sedan that was not offered for sale in the States. Now in its fifth generation (last redesigned for the 2007 model year), the Lexus ES received a mild refresh for 2010. For 2011, the engine in the ES has been tuned to run on regular unleaded fuel, there are standard 10-way power front seats, and the model has been equipped with a standard safety brake override system.

There is only one ES model for 2011-the ES 350-but the options list is extensive. The Lexus is fitted in standard trim with leather upholstery, keyless entry, keyless ignition, air conditioning with dual-zone climate control, 10-way power-operated front seats, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated exterior mirrors, sunroof, automatic wipers, 17-inch alloy wheels, and more. The options list includes Xenon adaptive headlights, automatic self-parking system, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and a hard-drive-based navigation system with reverse camera, voice commands, and real-time traffic information. The standard 8-speaker audio system may also be upgraded to a 14-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.

The 2011 Lexus ES 350 is offered with just one engine. The standard power plant is a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine rated at 268 horsepower. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic sending power to the front wheels. New for 2011, the engine has been calibrated to run on regular unleaded gasoline. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Lexus ES 350 between 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

The 2011 Lexus ES 350 starts at a base price of around $38,000.
