The Land Rover LR4 is the automaker's latest entry in the midsize luxury SUV field. It was introduced for the 2010 model year to replace the LR3, and carries over almost unchanged for 2011. The LR4 features a powerful V-8 engine and a long menu of luxury features. It competes with the Audi Q7, Lexus GX 460, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, and others.
Standard features on the 2011 Land Rover LR4 include 19-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, power accessories (including 8-way front-seat adjustability), leather upholstery, power tilt-and-slide front sunroof, fixed rear sunroof, rear parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 9-speaker sound system, plus much more. Various option packages can include upgraded leather seating, front parking sensors, rearview camera, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, heated windshield, heated washer jets, interior mood lighting, 13-speaker premium sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, and a hard-drive-based navigation system. Available heavy-duty performance features include 20-inch wheels and an active locking rear differential. Many options are available as stand-alones.
With the third-row seat, the LR4 can carry 7 people, and, when properly equipped, tow 7700 pounds, according to Land Rover. It features 44.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up. With the rear seats folded down, cargo capacity is 87.4 cubic feet.
The 2011 Land Rover LR4's standard power plant is a 375-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 375 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. It's coupeed with a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive. The LR4 also features an independent suspension, and a knob-controlled "Terrain Response" system.
Standard safety features on the 2011 Land Rover LR4 include anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, stability control, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control, plus front side air bags and side curtain air bags.
