Exterior Features
The 2012 Lincoln MKX is a midsize, 5-seat luxury crossover SUV, an upscale version of the Ford Edge. The MKX is built on Ford's CD3 platform, with unibody construction and front-wheel or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). The Lincoln MKX is available in a single trim with many options. Standard exterior equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, power liftgate, keyless ignition and entry, and rear parking sensors. With the proper equipment, the MKX's  towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

Interior Features
The interior of the Lincoln MKX features leather upholstery; dual-zone automatic climate control; power accessories, including power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats; proprietary electronics interface; 10-speaker sound system; and the MyKey system, which allows the owner to limit the vehicle's top speed and to control the audio volume when the car's on loan. Cargo capacity behind rear seats is 32.3 cubic feet; with those seats folded, cargo space increases to 69 cubic feet.

Optional Features
Adaptive cruise control and a rear-seat entertainment system are offered as stand-alone options in the MKX. The Premium package includes upgraded leather upholstery and interior lighting, upgraded wheels, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive Xenon headlights, heated steering wheel and second-row seats, and a rearview camera. The Elite package incorporates the Premium features, plus 20-inch chrome wheels, 14-speaker surround-sound system, panoramic sunroof, and premium hard-drive-based navigation system. Topping the options list is the Limited Edition package, which includes premium bronze leather upholstery with black accents, 20-inch polished alloy wheels, monogrammed floor mats, and various exclusive styling touches.

Under the Hood
A 305-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine is standard in the 2012 Lincoln MKX, with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Lincoln MKX are:
- MKX with FWD: 19/26/21 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- MKX with AWD: 17/23/19 mpg
