The Kia Sedona is a 7-passenger minivan, first introduced in the United States in 2002. It competes directly with the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, Ford Windstar, and Chrysler minivans (Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan). While the original Sedona was competitive, it wasn't until 2006 when the second-generation model arrived that it was able to be a real contender. To remain competitive, Kia treated the Sedona to a mild facelift for 2011. However, that news is overshadowed by the addition of a more powerful 6-cylinder engine and a new 6-speed automatic transmission, a combination that promises more power and increased efficiency, Kia says. The automaker has also made minor equipment changes to the Sedona for 2011.

The 2011 Kia Sedona is offered in just two trims. The Sedona LX arrives with front and rear air conditioning, cloth upholstery, full power accessories, keyless entry, roof rails, rear parking sensors, tilt steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity, 6-speaker audio system, 16-inch steel wheels, and more. The Sedona EX is upgraded with a power tailgate, power rear quarter windows, power-adjustable front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 17-inch alloy wheels, and other amenities. An optional Power package adds 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-power sliding doors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rearview camera, and chrome exterior trim. A Luxury package includes leather upholstery, sunroof, heated front seats, driver seat memory, automatic climate control with three zones, power-adjustable pedals, and more. A Premium Entertainment package adds a rear-seat DVD system with a 10-speaker Infiniti audio system, while a Navigation package delivers a satellite-based navigation system and an 8-speaker Infinity audio system.

The 2011 Kia Sedona is fitted with one power plant. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder rated at 271 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is not offered. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Kia Sedona between 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

The 2011 Kia Sedona LX starts at a base price of around $25,500 and tops out with the EX, which starts at around $29,500.
