The 2015 Kia Forte is a compact car offered as a 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, and a 5-door hatchback. The coupe is called the Koup, and the hatchback is called the Forte5. Forte Sedans are sold in LX and EX trim levels. The Forte EX adds an automatic transmission, remote keyless entry, cruise control, improved seat fabric, soft-touch interior materials, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, upgraded speakers, and driver-adjustable Flex Steer steering. The EX also contains a long list of comfort and convenience details, and is distinguished by LED running lights, fog lights, power-folding side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, and 16-in. aluminum wheels.
The Forte Koup and Forte5 are offered in EX and SX trim levels. The SX adds a more powerful engine, paddle shifters for the optional automatic transmission, and a sport-tuned suspension. Exterior detail includes black pearl exterior trim, projector beam fog lights, LED taillights, perimeter approach lighting, dual exhaust outlets, and 18-in. aluminum wheels. A 145-horsepower, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard in the Forte LX Sedan, paired with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. All Forte EX models get a 173-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and a standard 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Forte SX models are the sporty ones, powered by a turbocharged, 201-horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, with a 6-speed automatic transmission optional. The automatic includes paddle shifters.Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the Forte LX model's fuel-economy ratings range from 25 mpg in the city to 39 mpg on the highway, with the optional automatic delivering better fuel economy than the standard manual transmission.
Choose a Forte EX and the range runs from 24 mpg in the city for a Forte Koup with a manual transmission to 36 mpg on the highway for a sedan with an automatic transmission.
The most powerful version, the Forte SX, is expected to return between 21 mpg in the city for a Forte5 SX with either transmission to 30 mpg on the highway for a Forte SX Koup with an automatic transmission.Safety and Technology
Every 2015 Kia Forte is equipped with Bluetooth hands-free calling and a USB port. Kia's FlexSteer adjustable steering is standard for all Forte models except the LX Sedan, and the SX comes with a passive entry system with push-button engine starting.
A UVO eServices infotainment system is optional for the LX and EX versions, and standard for the SX. It includes Bluetooth music streaming, access to Internet radio, satellite radio, and a navigation system. There's even a Parking Minder feature to help the owner find the Forte in a packed lot, and the 911 Assist system automatically calls for help following a collision. Parents of teen drivers will appreciate the Speed Alert, Curfew Limit, and Geo Fence features.
