Sensual styling and a powerful engine remain the traditional staples of this coupe or convertible's appeal, while an abundance of technology serves the needs of modern luxury buyers.

The 2009 Jaguar XK is a carryover model from 2007, when it was completely redesigned. This year, the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive Jaguar XK now includes Sirius satellite radio and standard front Park Control.

Model Lineup
The 2009 Jaguar XK is available in XK coupe and Convertible and XKR coupe and Convertible models, the latter two newly available in Portfolio trim. The XK coupe includes the 300-hp, 4.2-liter V-8 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission; 18-inch wheels; remote keyless entry and vehicle start; tire-pressure-monitoring system; bright-finish dual tailpipes; leather seats; 10-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats; walnut or poplar interior trim; and a 7-inch touch screen for audio, telephone, climate, navigation, personalization and valet. The XK Convertible adds a power-latching, self-storing top that includes a lined headliner; flush-fold and aluminum tonneau cover; bright-finish tonneau trim; and a rollover protection system.

The XKR coupe has a supercharged, 420-hp, 4.2-liter V-8 engine; 19-inch wheels; aluminum-finish side mirror surround, trunk plinth and power side vents; body-colored hood louver; bright-finish quad tailpipes; adaptive front lighting; aluminum interior trim; and walnut or poplar interior trim. The XKR Convertible adds a rollover protection system; body-colored spoiler; and a refined top with automatic deployment in less than 20 seconds, according to the automaker.

New for 2009 is the XKR Portfolio edition. Based on the XKR, the Portfolio features 20-inch Selena-style wheels; milled aluminum side power vents; 16-way power seats and adjustable bolsters; exclusive Shadow Gray metallic paint; soft-grain leather seats and instrument panel with contrasted stitching; a Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system; and Portfolio badges on the trunk lid, floormats and door sill.

The 2009 Jaguar XK coupe and Convertible are powered by a 4.2-liter V-8 engine that generates 300 hp at 6000 rpm and 310 lb.-ft. of torque at 4100 rpm. The XKR coupe and Convertible get a supercharged, 4.2-liter V-8 engine that pumps out 420 hp at 6000 rpm and 413 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. A 6-speed automatic transmission featuring sequential-shift steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifting transfers power to the rear wheels. EPA fuel economy estimates for the 4.2-liter V-8 engine are 16 mpg city/25 mpg highway, while the supercharged version gets an EPA-estimated 15 mpg city/23 mpg highway.

The 2009 Jaguar XK is equipped with dual front air bags; seat-mounted, side-impact air bags for head/chest protection for front occupants; a whiplash reduction system; a rollover protection system; 3-point, height-adjustable front safety belts with pyrotechnic pre-tensioners; child safety belt locks; Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) for child safety seats; adaptive front lighting; daytime running lamps; a tire-pressure-monitoring system; an emergency internal trunk release; an anti-theft engine immobilizer; computer-activated suspension technology; an electronic parking brake; ABS; and stability and traction control.
