Exterior Features
The 2012 Jaguar XJ is a 4-door, rear-wheel drive, full-size luxury sedan available in three trim levels and two different wheelbase lengths. Nineteen-inch alloy wheels are standard on all models, as are bi-function Xenon headlamps, power-folding heated exterior mirrors, and a panoramic sunroof.
Interior Features
The 2012 Jaguar XJ seats 5 and offers 15.2 cubic feet of trunk space. Base models feature heated leather power seats and heated leather steering wheel. Other standard equipment on the base XJ include a 14-speaker sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, virtual instrument cluster, touch-screen interface, navigation system, and keyless entry and ignition. The upgraded XJL Portfolio model includes massaging front seats, 4-zone automatic climate control, and, as with all "L" models, added leg room due to the longer wheelbase. The XJ Supercharged model offers a 20-speaker audio system, while the top-tier Supersport model features a rear-seat entertainment system with headrest-mounted screens.
Optional Features
Upper trim levels of the 2012 Jaguar XJ add more horsepower, 20-inch wheels, and other options. The Rear Seat Comfort package, new this year and available on the XJL Supersport model, offers heated, reclining, and massaging rear seats. The Executive package adds rear-seat business trays, power rear sunshade, and wood-trimmed steering wheel, while a heated windshield and adaptive cruise control are available for all XJ models.
Under the Hood
The 2012 Jaguar XJ models are fitted with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine rated at 385 horsepower, while the Supercharged models come with a 5.0-liter V-8 rated at 470 horsepower. The Supersport is fitted with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers 510 horsepower. All XJ models are rear-wheel drive and feature a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Safety
Standard safety features on the Jaguar XJ-Series include anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side air bags, and side curtain air bags.
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have conducted crash tests on the 2012 Jaguar XJ-Series.
