Overview

A bigger and more powerful standard engine is the main story about the 2011 Jaguar XF. This midsize luxury sedan, first introduced for the 2009 model year to replace the Jaguar S-Type, will also feature a stronger braking system and a proprietary drive control system that allows the driver to adjust the suspension, throttle, and gearshift points.

The 2011 Jaguar XF comes in four trims. The base trim features 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery with full power adjustments to the front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, sunroof, automatic headlights, 9-speaker sound system, and much more. The XF Premium, XF Supercharged, and XFR trims gradually add more features, so that the XFR tops out with 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, quad tailpipes, Bowers & Wilkins surround sound, its own interior trim, and a specialized limited-slip rear differential, plus other enhancements. Trunk space for all XFs is 17 cubic feet, according to Jaguar.

The 2011 Jaguar XF line employs three different V-8 engines. The base XF and the XF Premium employ a 385-horsepower 5.0-liter engine that produces 380 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, by EPA estimates. The XF Supercharged trim features a 470-horsepower version of that engine, which produces 424 lb.-ft. of torque. At the top of the line, the XFR's engine is a supercharged, 510-horsepower, 5.0-liter power plant that cranks up to 461 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. All engines are teamed with rear-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission with a Sport mode and manual shift paddles.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Jaguar XF include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, front side air bags, side curtain air bags, and active front head restraints. A rearview camera and blind-spot warning system are standard on the upper trim levels, optional on the base model.

Starting MSRPs for the 2011 Jaguar XF ranged from around $52,500 up to around $80,000.
