Three versions of the new 2014 Jaguar F-Type are on sale, each equipped with a different level of performance.
Standard equipment for the F-Type includes single-zone automatic climate control, sport seats offering 6-way adjustment and wrapped in leather and suede-cloth upholstery, Phosphor Blue ambient cabin lighting, a power convertible top that folds in 12 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph, and an 8-inch color touch-screen infotainment system with navigation, a premium sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. A set of bi-xenon automatic headlights with washers and wipers is standard, along with heated and auto-dimming side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, performance brakes, sport suspension, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The standard supercharged V-6 is also equipped with a Dynamic Mode driving setting, and an Intelligent Stop/Start system that shuts the engine off when idling to help conserve fuel.
Upgrade to the F-Type S version and this Jaguar is equipped with 19-inch aluminum wheels, an Adaptive Dynamics sport suspension, high-performance braking system with black-painted brake calipers, active sport exhaust system, and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Additional changes include gloss black exterior trim, orange shift paddles, configurable ambient interior lighting in five colors, and puddle/curb illumination under the doors.
The F Type S V8 is the most expensive and best performing version of Jaguar's new roadster. It's equipped with a significantly more powerful engine, an electronic active differential, quad exhaust outlets, super-performance braking system, and 20-inch aluminum wheels. Standard side sill extensions help to identify this version, which is also equipped with 14-way power sport seats wrapped in full leather, memory for the driver's settings, dual-zone automatic climate control, and rear park-assist sensors.Options and Packages
Options for the Jaguar F-Type are primarily grouped into packages. A Climate Pack includes heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while a Premium Pack adds the Climate Pack plus 14-way power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Jaguar Smart Key passive entry, a universal garage door opener, Valet Mode for the trunk and glove box, and a wind deflector. The Vision Pack includes an adaptive front-lighting system and automatic high-beam headlights, front and rear park-assist sensors, a reversing camera, Reverse Traffic Detection system, and a blind-spot monitor.
Beyond these three primary option packages, there are the self-explanatory Premium Extended Leather Pack, Exterior Black Pack, Exterior Design Pack with Black Pack, and the Exterior Carbon Fiber Pack. An Exterior Design Pack for the standard F-Type and the F-Type S adds a subtle body kit to the car, while a Performance Pack for F-Type S and F-Type S V8 models adds performance seats, a configurable Dynamic Mode, super-performance braking system with red-painted calipers, switchable active sport exhaust system, flat-bottom sport steering wheel, metallic foot pedals, and black interior trim.

A supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6 engine is standard for the F-Type, generating 340 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 332 lb.-ft. of torque between 3,500 and 5,000 rpm. Jaguar says this engine accelerates the F-Type from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, and helps it to achieve a top speed of 161 mph.
The F-Type S is equipped with a more powerful version of that powertrain, one delivering 380 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque. It shaves zero-to-60 acceleration time to 4.8 seconds and adds 10 mph of top-end speed, for a maximum of 171 mph.
A supercharged, 5.0-liter V-8 engine is standard for the F-Type S V8, and it makes 495 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 460 lb.-ft. of torque between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm. Acceleration to 60 mph requires 4.2 seconds, and top speed is 186 mph.
All three engines drive the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.Fuel Economy
Fuel-economy ratings for Jaguar's new sports car range from 16 mpg in the city for the F-Type S V8 to 28 mpg on the highway for the standard F-Type, according to the EPA.Safety Ratings and Technology

Add the optional Vision Pack to the F-Type, and the car is equipped with several safety features including a reversing camera with Reverse Traffic Detection, front and rear park-assist sensors, a blind-spot information system, and adaptive headlights with auto-dimming high-beams.
