Overview

What's New for 2014:

  • Venetian Ruby paint color
  • Name changed from G37 Coupe/Convertible to Q60

Introduction
Available in coupe and hardtop convertible body styles, the 2014 Infiniti Q60 is the renamed but essentially unchanged G37 Coupe/Convertible offered in 2013. This sporty, 4-passenger model can be equipped with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) or an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, and draws motivation from a powerful V-6 engine. Among the Q60's competitors are the BMW 4 Series, Lexus IS convertible, and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe.

Models and Features
Infiniti offers the 2014 Q60 in a variety of trim levels, with base variants referred to as the Convertible and the Journey coupe. Both are equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable outside mirrors, heated power front seats with 8-way adjustment, automatic transmission, and a 6-speaker sound system bundled with a 7-inch display screen. A separate AWD coupe model, featuring all of the same equipment, is also available.

Adding an extra dose of sportiness is the Q60S 6MT, offered in coupe and convertible form. As one might guess, 6MT refers to the standard 6-speed manual transmission, which is complemented by a limited-slip rear differential, retuned suspension, larger brake rotors, 19-inch alloy wheels, and slight exterior revisions. Coupes also feature a power tilt/slide moonroof, while all examples boast power front seat bolsters, premium audio, navigation system, and rear park-assist sensors.

For those car shoppers who favor the Q60 yet want something a little more special, Infiniti offers IPL (Infiniti Performance Line) versions of the coupe and the convertible. Upgrades include a moderate bump in engine output, body kit, and unique alloy wheels.

Options and Packages
Several option packages are available for the 2014 Q60, a few of which are standard on the 6MT models. These include the Premium package, comprised of the moonroof (coupe only), premium sound system, and rear park-assist sensors; Navigation package; and a Sport package with high-performance summer tires, upgraded suspension, more aggressively bolstered front seats, and alloy foot pedals.

Also worthy of mention is a Technology package consisting of intelligent cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and a climate control system with enhanced air purification.

Under the Hood
At the core of every 2014 Infiniti Q60 is a 3.7-liter V-6 engine mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed automatic featuring the company's downshift rev-match technology. However, output varies among body styles and trim levels. In the case of the coupe, its 6-cylinder engine delivers 330 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, whereas the convertible produces 325 horsepower and 267 lb.-ft. of torque. IPL models stretch those figures to 348 and 276, respectively.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2014 Infiniti Q60 are:
  • Q60 coupe RWD with 6-speed manual transmission: 17/25/20 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Q60 coupe RWD with 7-speed automatic transmission: 19/27/22 mpg
  • Q60 coupe AWD with 7-speed automatic transmission: 18/25/20 mpg
  • Q60 convertible RWD with 6-speed manual transmission: 16/24/19 mpg
  • Q60 convertible RWD with 7-speed automatic transmission: 18/26/20 mpg

Safety and Ratings
As this overview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has rated the crashworthiness of the 2014 Infiniti Q60.

In an effort to ace the NHTSA and IIHS crash tests, and address safety in general, Infiniti has equipped the Q60 with 6 air bags, stability control, and 4-wheel anti-lock ventilated disc brakes. Other related features include bright LED taillights and HID headlights, rearview camera, and available extras such as rear park-assist sensors and intelligent cruise control.
