What's New for 2012:
- Introduction of a hybrid version, the M35h

Exterior Features
The 2012 Infiniti M is a midsize luxury sedan available in three trim levels: M37, M35h, and M56. Standard on each trim are 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic bi-Xenon headlights, fog lights, power-folding heated mirrors, and sunroof. The hybrid version adds an audible warning system for pedestrians to compensate for the silence of the electric motor.

Interior Features
Standard amenities on the 2012 Infiniti M include automatic wipers, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated 8-way power front-passenger seats, power lumbar support, driver-memory functions, power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a digitally accessible audio system. The M35h also includes unique instrument readings and display clusters to accommodate the hybrid powertrain.

Optional Features
The 2012 Infiniti M offers options in its Premium package that include heated and ventilated front-passenger seats, heated steering wheel, navigation system, and a 10-speaker Bose stereo with streaming audio via Bluetooth and digital music storage. The M56 Premium package includes a power rear-seat sunshade, air purifier, upgraded leather upholstery and interior trim, and a 16-speaker Bose system. The Sport package offers some external appearance options, while the Technology package includes a blind-spot monitoring system.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Infiniti M37 is fitted with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine rated at 330 horsepower, while the M56 is fitted with a 5.6-liter V-8 rated at 420 horsepower. The M35h powertrain combines a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor to deliver 360 horsepower. Each version of the M is equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission, with AWD available for the M37 and M56.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Infiniti M are:
- M37 with RWD: 18/26/21 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- M56 with RWD: 16/25/19 mpg
- M35h: 27/32/29 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the 2012 Infiniti M include a battery of air bags and traction and stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist. Optional are a blind-spot warning and prevention system; forward-collision warning system; Intelligent Brake Assist, which helps drivers brake when a forward collision is imminent; and a lane-departure warning system.

In government tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2012 Infiniti M received 4 (out of 5) stars for overall safety, including 4 stars for frontal-offset crash protection; 5 stars for side-impact protection; and 4 stars for rollover protection. The NHTSA did not test the Infiniti M35h. In safety tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), all trim levels of the Infiniti M, except for the M56 AWD version, received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection and rollover protection. The IIHS named the Infiniti M lineup a "Top Safety Pick" in 2012. The IIHS did not test the M35h.
