Exterior Features
The Infiniti G-Series is a line of luxury midsize cars: the G25 Sedan (base, Journey, and all-wheel-drive trims); G37 Sedan (Journey, Sport, and all-wheel-drive trims); G37 Coupe; G37 Convertible; and IPL G Coupe. All feature an elongated profile. The G25 features 17-inch alloy wheels, Xenon headlights, and fog lights; the Journey adds automatic lights and an optional sunroof. The G37 line steps up to a more powerful engine and more options; the Sport trim adds 18-inch wheels with performance tires, plus many performance upgrades. The G37 Coupe offers the same trims as the Sedan; the Convertible, which features a retractable hardtop, comes in base or Sport; the IPL G Coupe employs 19-inch wheels and includes many high-performance features.
Interior Features
Leather upholstery is standard on all Infiniti G models. The G25 offers cruise control, automatic climate control, a full range of power accessories, keyless ignition and entry, and a 6-speaker sound system. The G25 Journey trim adds dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, rearview camera, and upgraded power accessories. The G37 Journey is similar to the G25 Journey, while the G37 Sport adds sport seats and a standard manual transmission. The IPL G Coupe has a navigation system, red-stitched sport seats, and many other enhancements.
Optional Features
Many upgrades offered on higher trim levels are available as options on lower trims, including a moonroof, upgraded audio, larger wheels and tires, and navigation system.
Under the Hood
The 2012 Infiniti G25 features a 2.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 218 horsepower and 187 lb.-ft. of torque. A 7-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD) are standard; all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. All G37s employ a 3.7-liter V-6 engine that delivers 330 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque; the Sport trim uses a 6-speed manual transmission. The IPL G model features a 348-horsepower, 3.7-liter, IPL-tuned V-6 engine with automatic or manual transmission.
Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Infiniti G family are:
- G25 and G37 Journey: 19/27/22 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- G37 Sport: 17/25/20 mpg
- G37 Sedan with AWD: 18/25/20 mpg
- IPL G Coupe with automatic transmission: 19/27/22 mpg
- IPL G Coupe with manual transmission: 17/25/20 mpg
Safety
Standard safety features on the Infiniti G-Series include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, front-seat side air bags, and side curtain air bags. Other features are optional.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2012 Infiniti G25 and G37 Sedan received 5 (out of 5) stars for rollover protection. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the G-Series received "Good" ratings--the Institute's highest--for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection, and an "Acceptable" rating for roof strength.
