. The G35 Sedan was replaced in 2007 with an all-new model that was larger, more powerful and more luxurious. For 2008, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) G35x Sedan is offered with a Sport package for the first time, along with a host of other technology and option updates. The 2008 G37 marks the introduction of the second-generation coupe. An all-new engine highlights the larger, more powerful and more refined 2-door. The sporty G37 also features Infiniti's latest luxury, technology and performance offerings.Model Lineup
The 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan is available in four different models: G35 Sedan, G35 Sedan Journey, G35x AWD Sedan and G35 Sport 6MT Sedan. Infiniti's all-new 2008 G37 coupe is available in three different models: G37 coupe, G37 coupe Journey and G37 coupe Sport 6MT. Both Sedan and coupe offer standard amenities including Vehicle Dynamic Control, high-intensity-discharge (HID) headlamps, power side-view mirrors/door locks/windows, leather seats with 8-way power, 6-speaker audio system with in-dash CD player, MP3 playback capability, auxiliary input jack, and cruise control with steering-wheel-mounted controls.
The G37 coupe includes standard features such as 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, automatic climate control and an Intelligent Key System with pushbutton start. The G37 Journey model adds a dual-zone automatic climate control system, as well as options such as 19-inch wheels and lower-profile tires, active steering, power one-touch open/close moonroof, heated front seats, driver and passenger manual thigh extensions, and driver's seat and steering wheel memory position. The Journey model also offers an optional rear spoiler and African rosewood trim. The G37 Sport offers the same options as the Journey, but comes standard with the 6-speed manual transmission and performance tire and wheel package. The Sport package of options includes a sport-tuned suspension, unique exterior touches, aluminum pedals, larger brakes, and Infiniti's Viscous Limited Slip Differential.
The G35 Sedan includes standard features such as 17-inch aluminum wheels, automatic climate control and an Intelligent Key System with pushbutton start. The G35 Journey models add dual-zone automatic climate control and the ability to add optional packages very similar to those found on the coupe. Unlike the coupe, the G35 Sedan is available in an AWD variant. For the first time, the AWD model is offered with a modified version of the Sport package.
All 2008 Infiniti models are offered with a 4-year/60,000-mile basic coverage warranty and 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain coverage. Infiniti Roadside Assistance is standard during the first four years of ownership.Powertrain
The 2008 Infiniti G35 Sedan and G37 coupe are each offered with a standard 6-cylinder powerplant. The G35 Sedan features a 3.5-liter, VQ35 DOHC 6-cylinder engine rated at 306 hp and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. The standard driveline is RWD. The G35x AWD model boasts Infiniti's ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) AWD system. EPA fuel economy estimates for the 2008 G35 Sedan range around 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway, depending on driveline and transmission choice. The G37 coupe features a new 3.7-liter, VQ37 DOHC 6-cylinder engine. It is rated at 330 hp and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. The G37 EPA fuel economy estimates are roughly 17 mpg city/26 mpg highway, depending on transmission choice.
The G35 and G37 Sport 6MT models feature a standard close-ratio lightweight 6-speed manual transmission. All other models, including the AWD Sedan, feature a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode via paddle shifters, downshift rev matching, quick-shift mode, and Adaptive Shift control. The suspension on both the Sedan and coupe is of a 4-wheel independent design with a double-wishbone front and a rear multi-link. Both ends feature stabilizer bars. The steering is rack and pinion, with vehicle-speed-sensitive power assist. The G35 and G37 both offer a Rear Active Steering system on the Journey and Sport models. With the system activated, the rear wheels are designed to turn up to one degree to add stability during turns and cornering. Braking technology includes standard 4-wheel vented discs with anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA).Safety
Infiniti equips the 2008 G35 Sedan and G37 coupe with six standard air bags and several active safety features. Infiniti's Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) offers dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant sensors, and side-impact supplemental air bags, for both driver and passenger. Front- and rear-seat passengers are protected by a roof-mounted curtain side-impact and rollover supplemental air bag system. A tire-pressure-monitoring system (TPMS) is standard on all 2008 Infiniti G models.
The standard ABS is fitted with EBD and BA. Infiniti's traction control system (TCS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) are standard on both coupe and Sedan models. To simplify infant and child seat installation, the Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system is built into the rear outboard seating positions on all models.
The 2007-08 Infiniti G35 Sedan has been crash tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS
). It earned a "Good" rating in the frontal offset test, and an "Acceptable" rating in the side-impact test. The 2008 Infiniti G37 coupe has not been crash tested by the IIHS or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA
In addition to the Intelligent Key system, active steering, intelligent cruise control, preview braking and adaptive front lighting system-features that are standard or available on both coupe and Sedan models-Infiniti offers an optional 11-speaker Bose Infiniti Studio on Wheels audio system. The upgraded audio package features a Burr-Brown Digital Audio converter and Bluetooth hands-free phone operation. The G35 and G37 also offer a navigation system with real-time traffic information and a CompactFlash slot to load music into an internal 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard drive that has the capacity to hold hundreds of songs, with easy access to the selections via the dashboard-mounted screen.
