Under the Hood

The Tucson GL is equipped with a 165-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission with a manual shift gate.

The Tucson GLS and Limited trims are equipped with a 176-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that meets Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) standards in certain states. A 6-speed Shiftronic automatic is the only transmission choice, and these models can be equipped with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that features the ability to lock the power split evenly between the front and rear wheels.

Models with an automatic transmission include Active ECO technology, which Hyundai says can improve fuel economy by 7% when engaged.
