Overview

The Hyundai Santa Fe is a midsize crossover sport utility vehicle. Sharing a platform with the Hyundai Sonata sedan, this four-door debuted in 2000. Today's Santa Fe is a second-generation model that was last completely redesigned for the 2007 model year. After a significant refresh last year, the 2011 model is mostly unchanged

The Santa Fe is offered in three trim levels: GLS, SE, and Limited. The GLS arrives with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, tinted privacy glass, heated mirrors, cruise control, keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, and more. The SE model is upgraded with leather/cloth upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, eight-way power-operated driver seat, automatic headlights, 18-inch wheels, and other premium accessories. The range-topping Limited features full leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, ten-speaker Infinity sound system, and more. Major options include sunroof, rearview camera, and a navigation system

The Hyundai Santa Fe is offered with two engine choices. The standard powerplant is a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that is rated at 175 horsepower. The SE and Limited models are available with a 3.5-liter, six-cylinder engine rated at 276 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. All-wheel drive, designed for additional traction during inclement weather rather than heavy-duty off-road use, is optional. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe between 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, depending on powertrain

The 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS starts with a base price of about $22,000 and tops out with the Limited, which starts around $28,000.
