Overview

What's New for 2013:

  • White Satin over Saddle leather color combination
  • Gran Premio Gray paint replaces Granite Gray

Exterior Features
The 2013 Hyundai Equus is a large luxury sedan available in Signature and Ultimate trim designations. Available in Platinum, gray, black and white, the Equus features standard chrome 19-inch aluminum wheels, HID headlights with an adaptive front lighting system, and LED turn signal indicators front and rear.

Interior Features
The Equus Signature is equipped with leather seats, suede headliner, heated leather-and-wood power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, genuine wood cabin trim, and a leather-wrapped dashboard. The front seats are climate-controlled for heat, cooling and humidity, and the 12-way power driver's seat includes a massage feature. Dual-zone automatic climate control and a power rear sunshade help to keep the interior at a comfortable temperature. Bluetooth, a navigation system, and a 608-watt Lexicon premium audio system with HD Radio, satellite radio, USB/iPod connection, and 17 speakers also come standard on the Equus.

Optional Features
The Equus Ultimate adds a forward-view cornering camera system and a power trunk lid, but the main reason to consider upgrading is for improved rear-seat accommodations. The Ultimate features individual reclining rear seats with power-adjustable headrests, ventilation, and both a massage function and a power leg rest for the right rear passenger. Remote controls power the front passenger's seat forward to maximize leg room, and the Equus Ultimate features a rear refrigerator, rear-seat entertainment system, illuminated rear vanity mirrors, and power rear side-window sunshades.

Under the Hood
Every 2013 Equus is equipped with a direct-injected, 5.0-liter V-8 engine developing 429 horsepower at 6,400 rpm (421 horsepower on regular unleaded) and 376 lb.-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm (365 on regular unleaded). An 8-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission delivers the power to the rear wheels. An air suspension with a Sport driving mode and Continuous Damping Control is also standard.

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2013 Hyundai Equus is estimated to get 15 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg in combined driving.

Safety
The Hyundai Equus is equipped with 9 air bags, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, and a traction and stability control system. Additionally, the Equus includes rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, smart cruise control, lane-departure warning system, pre-collision warning system, and an adaptive front lighting system. Ultimate models add a forward-vision camera to help the driver see around blind corners.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not performed occupant-protection tests on the Equus as this overview is written, however, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the essentially identical 2012 Equus a "Top Safety Pick."
