Overview

The Hyundai Accent is a subcompact four-door sedan and three-door hatchback that has been in production since 1994. Today's Accent is a third-generation model, last completely redesigned for the 2005 model year. Changes for 2011 are limited to an upgraded audio system and the deletion of the sunroof, which was formerly an option. An all-new, completely-redesigned Accent has been announced for the 2012 model year.

The Accent hatchback is available in three trim levels - GL, GS, and SE - while the Accent sedan is only offered in GLS trim. Standard equipment on the GL includes cloth upholstery, manual windows, six-way adjustable driver's seat, 60/40 split-folding second-row seats, 14-inch steel wheels, and more. Air conditioning is optional. The GS hatchback and GLS sedan are both upgraded with an automatic transmission, air conditioning, tilt steering, rear wiper, body-colored outside mirrors and door handles, and more. The SE model is configured to be the sporty trim level, and is fitted with features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

All models of the Hyundai Accent share the same 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine rated at 110 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all models with the exception of the GS, which is fitted with a four-speed automatic transmission. The automatic is optional on all other trim levels. All Accent models are front-wheel drive. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Hyundai Accent between 27 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, depending on driveline and trim level.

The 2011 Hyundai GL Hatchback starts with a base price of about $10,500 and tops out with the Accent GLS Sedan, which starts around $14,000.
