Signature features include its closed-box, unit-body structure, In-Bed Trunk, dual-action tailgate, and independent front and rear coil suspensions, as well as the bed's distinctive angled sides. The Ridgeline has a maximum tow rating of 5,000 lbs. and a maximum payload of 1,000 lbs.

Models and Features
The 2014 Honda Ridgeline is available in five trim levels: RT, Sport, RTS, RTL, and Special Edition (SE). The RT features 17-in. steel wheels, integrated trailer hitch, pre-wiring for 7-pin trailer hook-up, keyless entry, power windows and locks, power sliding rear window, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, trip computer with instantaneous and average fuel economy, 6-speaker 100-watt audio system with CD player and MP3/WMA playback capability, rearview camera, and 60/40 split lift-up rear seat with under-seat storage. The Sport adds black 18-in. aluminum wheels, black grille and light housings, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, auxiliary audio input jack, all-weather floor mats, and rear privacy glass. The RTS adds other cosmetic features, as well as an 8-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, 7-speaker 160-watt audio system with subwoofer, 6-disc in-dash CD system, steering wheel-mounted controls, auxiliary audio input jack, exterior temperature indicator, all-weather floor mats, and privacy glass. The RTL further upgrades the wheels and adds a power moonroof, heated side mirrors, leather-trimmed interior with heated front seats, SiriusXM satellite radio, HomeLink remote system, ambient console lighting, 115-volt power outlet, and carpeted floor mats. A navigation system is available. The SE adds premium wheels, special badging, the black trim of the Sport model, black leather interior, and the navigation system as standard equipment.

Options and Packages
Many of the features that are standard on the upper trim levels are available as options on lower trims. Exterior accessories include various wheel upgrades, spare wheel, roof rack with attachments for skis, snowboards, surfboards, and more; and various racks and extenders.

Dealer-installed accessories such as running boards, side steps, side protectors, various alternative grille and light treatments, and a hard tonneau cover are also available. Satellite radio, a security system, and backup sensors are optional. For the interior, several storage options are offered, as well as a metal-look interior trim.

Under the Hood
The 2014 Ridgeline features an all-aluminum, 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 250 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque. The 5-speed automatic transmission features Grade Logic Control, which finds the most appropriate gear for steep hills. The fully automatic 4-wheel-drive system operates predominately in front-wheel-drive mode during dry-pavement cruising conditions.

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2014 Honda Ridgeline gets 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.

Safety Ratings and Technology
Standard safety features on all 2014 Ridgelines include dual-stage, multiple-threshold driver's and front passenger's air bags, side curtain air bags with rollover sensor, front-seat active head restraints, stability control, a tire-pressure-monitoring system, and daytime running lights. A rearview camera is also standard.

In crash testing conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) the 2014 Honda Ridgeline received 4 stars (out of a possible 5) for rollover protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Ridgeline its top rating of "Good" in all tests.
