The Honda Ridgeline, the automaker's first sport utility truck, was introduced in 2006. Unlike competitive models from Nissan and Toyota, the 5-passenger Ridgeline is only offered in one 4-door body style with a short pickup bed (mirroring the Chevrolet Avalanche's body configuration). The Ridgeline is the only car-based pickup sold in the United States. It is unique in that it offers an independent rear suspension for a carlike ride, while most of its competitors are configured with truck-type solid rear axles. Still in its first generation, the Ridgeline is a carryover model for 2011.
The 2011 Honda Ridgeline is offered in three models: RT, RTS and RTL. Standard equipment on the Ridgeline RT includes cloth seat upholstery, air conditioning, full power accessories, cruise control, power-sliding rear window, split-folding rear seat, 6-speaker audio system with CD/MP3 capabilities, 17-inch steel wheels, and more. The Ridgeline RTS is upgraded with dual-zone automatic climate control, tinted privacy glass on the windows, 8-way power-operated driver's seat, 7-speaker audio system with 6-disc CD changer, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, 17-inch alloy wheels, and other amenities. The range-topping Ridgeline RTL is fitted with leather seat upholstery, heated front seats, 115-volt power outlet, fog lights, sunroof, satellite radio bundled with the audio package, 18-inch alloy wheels, and other premium equipment. The options list is short, and additional features are only available on the Ridgeline RTL model. Options include a navigation system bundled with a backup camera, and Bluetooth phone connectivity.
The sole power plant offering in the 2011 Honda Ridgeline is a 3.5-liter, 6-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 250 horsepower. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard, sending power to all four wheels through a permanent 4-wheel-drive system. Unlike many pickup trucks in this class, the Ridgeline does not have a transfer case with low-range gearing. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Honda Ridgeline between 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
The 2011 Honda Ridgeline starts at a base price around $29,500 for the RT model and tops out with the RTL with Navigation, which starts at around $37,500.
