Exterior FeaturesThe 2012 Honda Pilot is a midsize 4-door sport utility vehicle offered in four different trim levels. Seventeen-inch steel wheels are standard, with larger wheels available on higher grades.
Interior FeaturesThe 2012 Honda Pilot offers seating for up to 8 passengers. Base Pilot models are configured with cloth upholstery, full power accessories, split-folding second- and third-row bench seats, remote keyless entry, cruise control, automatic headlights, and dark-tinted privacy glass. Higher trim levels are configured with leather upholstery, heated front seats, power liftgate, rearview camera, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and more.
Optional FeaturesWhile major options are generally bundled with the trim level, options on the 2012 Honda Pilot include larger alloy wheels, full-size spare tire, and a towing kit.
Under the HoodHonda Pilot models are fitted with a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which is rated at 250 horsepower. It is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels (FWD). All-wheel drive (AWD), designed to improve traction in inclement weather, is optional.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Honda Pilot are:
- Honda Pilot FWD: 18/25 mpg (city/highway)
- Honda Pilot AWD: 17/24 mpg (city/highway)
SafetyStandard safety features of note on the 2012 Honda Pilot include side curtain air bags for all three rows. In government crash tests, the 2012 Honda Pilot received a frontal crash rating of 4 (out of 5) stars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but has not received an overall score. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Pilot received a "Good" rating-the Institute's highest-for frontal-offset and side-impact crashes and roof crash protection. The Pilot also earned a "Marginal" rating in the Institute's roof strength tests.
