Exterior Features
Honda offers the 2013 Odyssey minivan in five trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Touring Elite. The 2013 Honda Odyssey LX is equipped with power side mirrors, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, auto-off headlights, and 17-inch steel wheels with plastic wheel covers. The Odyssey features what Honda refers to as a "lightning bolt" side character line along the bottom of the windows.

Interior Features
The 2013 Honda Odyssey LX is equipped with three rows of seats and, depending on the trim level, seats 7 or 8 passengers. Standard equipment includes air conditioning with front and rear controls, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless entry, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, and a reversing camera.

The standard stereo offers an 8-inch color information display screen, Bluetooth calling and music streaming, hard-drive CD library, USB port, and an auxiliary audio input jack, and the steering wheel features audio system controls. An 8-way power driver's seat is standard, as well as a universal remote control, map lights in all three rows of seats, illuminated visor mirrors, and front floor mats. The cargo area is equipped with a light and plastic grocery sack hooks.

The 2013 Odyssey supplies 38.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seat, 93.1 cubic feet behind the second-row seats, and 148.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume.

Optional Features
The 2013 Honda Odyssey EX offers "3-mode" second-row seating that allows three child safety seats to be installed side by side. Additionally, the EX trim level offers power sliding side doors, triple-zone automatic climate control, second-row sunshades, and a removable center console between the front seats. Eight-passenger seating is standard with the EX, due to its multi-function second-row center seat. The EX trim also provides a conversation mirror, outside temperature indicator, automatic headlights, heated side mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The 2013 Odyssey EX-L includes leather seats, heated front seats, power front passenger's seat, power tailgate, power moonroof, satellite radio, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A voice-recognition navigation system and a rear-seat entertainment system are optional on this trim level.

The 2013 Odyssey Touring includes the navigation and entertainment systems, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, parking sensors, memory for the driver's settings, ambient cabin lighting, and sunshades for the third-row seat. A more fuel-efficient 6-speed automatic transmission is also installed in the Touring trim.

The 2013 Odyssey Touring Elite offers high-intensity discharge headlights, blind-spot monitoring system, Ultrawide rear-seat entertainment screen, video input jacks, dual wireless headphones, and a 12-speaker, 650-watt, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system.

Under the Hood
The 2013 Odyssey's 248-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine is equipped with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), which conserves fuel by shutting down up to 3 of the engine's 6 cylinders when cruising or coasting. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard in LX, EX and EX-L trims. The Odyssey Touring and Touring Elite trims have a 6-speed automatic transmission. All Odysseys are front-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Honda Odyssey are:

  • Odyssey with 5-speed automatic transmission: 18/27/21 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Odyssey with 6-speed automatic transmission: 19/28/22 mpg

Honda developed the Odyssey minivan around an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, which is designed to enhance crash protection and compatibility in frontal collisions, according to the company. Six air bags, traction and stability control, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, and a reversing camera are also standard. Safety-related options include park-assist sensors and a blind-spot monitoring system.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2013 Honda Odyssey a 5-star (out of 5) overall crash-test rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not rated the 2013 Odyssey as this overview is written, however, the structurally identical 2012 model was named a "Top Safety Pick" by the Institute.
