What's New for 2015:

  • Completely redesigned
  • Longer wheelbase, but shorter body length

  • More power, better fuel economy
  • Improved steering and suspension
  • Upgraded body structure safety

The 2015 Honda Fit competes in the sub-compact, entry-level segment of the market, but is remarkably large inside. This redesigned 5-door hatchback competes against the Chevrolet Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio5, Mazda 2, Nissan Versa Note, Scion xD, and Toyota Yaris.

Models and Features
Honda offers the 2015 Fit in LX, EX, and EX-L trim levels. All are equipped with a center-mounted fuel tank designed to enhance interior room, and the Fit's Magic Seat design continues, allowing owners multiple ways to configure the cargo area. Total space measures 16.6 cu. ft. with the rear seat raised, providing about the same space as a midsize sedan's trunk. Fold the rear seat and the Fit holds 52.7 cu. ft. of cargo, almost as much as a small crossover SUV.

Upgrading to EX trim supplies aluminum wheels, fog lights, power sunroof, keyless passive entry with push-button starting, and Honda's Lane Watch system, which shows the driver what's along the right side of the car prior to changing lanes. The Fit EX also includes a touch-screen infotainment system with text-messaging support, next-generation HondaLink connectivity, Pandora Internet radio, and additional USB ports.

The Fit EX-L features a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a sport driving mode and paddle shifters, along with leather seats, heated front seats, heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators, and more. The Fit EX-L can be optioned with a voice-recognition navigation system.

Under the Hood
A new 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard for the 2015 Fit, generating 130 horsepower. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard for the LX and EX trim levels, while the EX-L is equipped with a CVT featuring a sport mode and shift paddles. A CVT is optional for the Fit LX and EX, the latter getting the same sport mode and shift paddles as the EX-L.

For 2015, Honda says it has also improved the Fit's electric steering and the suspension to provide better stability, ride, and handling characteristics.

Fuel Economy
A 2015 Fit equipped with a manual gearbox is expected to return 29 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, according to official EPA estimates. Select a CVT for the Fit LX and the rating improves to 33 mpg city/41 mpg highway.

Get a CVT in the Fit EX, or buy the Fit EX-L, and the CVT's sport driving mode costs the car a bit in terms of fuel efficiency. These versions are expected to return 32 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

Safety and Technology
Standard safety features for the redesigned 2015 Fit include next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body construction, new SmartVent side-impact air bags, driver's side mirror designed to show what's in the car's left blind spot, and a multi-angle reversing camera.

Choose the Fit EX for Lane Watch technology, which uses a camera to show the driver what's alongside the car's right flank before changing lanes. The EX also gets HondaLink with new Automatic Collision Notification and SOS/E-Call Emergency Assistance services, all part of the touch-screen infotainment system that also supplies access to Pandora Internet radio and Aha content through a connected smartphone.

A navigation system is optional for the Fit EX-L, and it includes both satellite radio and HD Radio.
