Exterior Features
The 2013 Honda Civic coupe is sold in LX, EX, EX-L, and Si trim levels. Unlike the 2013 Civic Sedan, the new Civic coupe's exterior styling is unchanged except for the wheel designs. Standard equipment for the Civic LX coupe includes power exterior mirrors, headlights that automatically turn off after the car is turned off, and 15-inch wheels with styled wheel covers.

Interior Features
All 2013 Civic models receive an upgraded interior in the form of soft-touch materials on the dashboard and upper door panels, refined textures and trim, improved seat fabrics and headliner, and standard black carpeting. Honda offers a new Black interior color choice for the 2013 Civic coupe, and the car is equipped with thicker glass and additional soundproofing materials designed to make the cabin quieter.

The 2013 Honda Civic LX coupe is equipped with standard air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, cruise control, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. The driver seat offers manual height adjustment, and the LX coupe includes floor mats, center storage console with a sliding armrest, 5-inch LCD information display screen, trip computer, exterior temperature indicator, and a 160-watt stereo with 4 speakers, CD player, and an auxiliary audio input jack.

For 2013, Honda adds a reversing camera, Bluetooth connectivity with music streaming, SMS text messaging, USB port, iPod connection, and Pandora Internet radio to the Civic LX coupe's roster of standard features.

Optional Features
Additional equipment for the 2013 Honda Civic coupe is available, in most cases, by upgrading to the next available trim level.

The 2013 Civic EX coupe adds variable intermittent wipers, rear disc brakes, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and a power sunroof. Additional upgrades include automatic climate control, premium sound system with extra stereo speakers, additional 12-volt power outlet located in the center console, and an additional seatback pocket. The EX coupe also adds a 60/40-split folding rear seatback, replacing the standard single-piece folding seatback in the LX model.

The 2013 Civic EX-L coupe adds an automatic transmission, leather seats, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated side mirrors, automatic headlights, and fog lights.

The 2013 Civic Si coupe is the performance-tuned model, equipped with a larger and more powerful engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and a helical limited-slip differential. Additional upgrades include a sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, aluminum pedals, and a rear spoiler. Summer performance tires are optional on this model.

The Civic EX, EX-L and Si coupes can be optioned with a navigation system equipped with satellite radio, turn-by-turn directions, voice control, and a new multi-view reversing camera, which replaces the standard single-view camera. Honda dealers can install a range of extra-cost accessories for any 2013 Civic coupe.

Under the Hood
A 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard for all models except the Civic Si. It generates 140 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 128 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm, and is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox in LX and EX models or a 5-speed automatic transmission in EX-L models. The automatic is an option for the LX and EX coupes.

A 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard for the 2013 Civic Si coupe. It is rated to deliver 201 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 170 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission choice for the Civic Si.

For 2013, Honda has made mechanical changes designed to provide a better ride quality and improve handling. The new Civic coupe's steering and suspension are recalibrated for 2013, and models with an automatic transmission receive larger front brake discs this year.

Fuel Economy
As this overview is written, the EPA has not published official fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Honda Civic coupe models. The ratings below are Honda's estimates:

  • Civic coupe LX/EX with manual transmission: 28/36/31 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Civic coupe LX/EX/EX-L with automatic transmission: 28/39/32 mpg
  • Civic coupe Si: 22/31/25 mpg (2012 model)

Safety
The 2013 Honda Civic coupe comes standard with 6 air bags, traction control system, stability control system, and anti-lock brakes with brake assist.

For 2013, the Civic coupe is equipped with an updated Advanced Compatibility Engineering II (ACE II) body structure, which employs more high-strength steel than before to prepare the car to perform well in the new small overlap frontal-impact crash test administered by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Additional safety-related upgrades for 2013 include standard Smart Vent side-impact air bags and a new rollover sensor for the side curtain air bags.

As this overview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has crash-tested the 2013 Civic coupe.
