What's New
The HUMMER H2 SUT enters the 2006 model year virtually unchanged. But that's not surprising given that the model is really only one year old. The Sport Utility Truck (SUT) maintains its part-SUV, part-pickup truck styling in the HUMMER tradition of rugged elegance.

The H2 SUT is unique to the HUMMER line due to a collapsible Midgate bulkhead between the truck bed and cabin interior. It is the same concept seen elsewhere in the General Motors family, specifically with the Chevrolet Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT. With the press of a button on the dashboard, the SUT's rear power window lowers, the rear seats and Midgate fold forward manually and, voila, the four-foot-wide cargo bed extends to six feet to facilitate extra-large loads. And if the cargo is tall, you can open the sunroof for limitless vertical clearance. Or, leave the Midgate upright and open the sunroof and all the windows to create a semi-convertible effect for up to five passengers. With the Midgate up, you still have more than 30 cu. ft. of cargo space remaining in the bed.

Like the rest of the HUMMER fleet, the H2 SUT retains hard-core off-road capabilities. Short overhangs provide radical approach and departure angles of 40.8 and 39.6 degrees, respectively-figures that are watched closely by off-road enthusiasts. It also boasts 9.9 inches of ground clearance and has full undercarriage protection in the event that you try to drive over something a tad taller. Like its H2 SUV counterpart, it can traverse streams 20 inches deep, crawl over 16-inch boulders, and ascend 60-degree grades. The 17-inch wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension, and five-link rear suspension are designed for outstanding handling, carrying, and towing capability. Your sole power choice is a 316-hp, Vortec 6000 6.0L V-8 engine that produces 360 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Competition
The HUMMER H2 SUT competes in the Large Premium Utility segment, which is characterized by high-end, feature-laden SUVs with plenty of power and strong towing capability.

Twelve models comprise the segment, which is dominated by the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. During the 2005 calendar year they recorded 29,876 and 25,844 unit sales respectively, according to the J.D. Power and Associates Sales Report.SM Next in line, with 16,054 sales, was the HUMMER H2, the full-SUV sibling of the HUMMER H2 SUT. The SUT model accounted for 7,159 sales. Other models competing in this segment include the Cadillac Escalade ESV, Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the Lexus LX Series, Toyota Land Cruiser, Infiniti QX56, and HUMMER H1 ALPHA.
