Exterior FeaturesGMC offers the 2013 Yukon in SLE, SLT, Hybrid, and Denali trim levels. The Yukon SLE trim has 17-inch aluminum wheels, dark-tinted rear glass, and heated power side mirrors. Hybrid models employ aerodynamic styling details and lightweight 18-inch wheels to maximize fuel economy.
Interior FeaturesStandard equipment for the Yukon SLE includes triple-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, tilt steering wheel, and cruise control. A Bose premium sound system features Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and a USB port. Six months of free OnStar telematics service is standard.
Optional FeaturesIncluded on the Yukon SLT trim are Ultrasoft leather seats, heated front seats, power-adjustable pedals, remote engine starting, Homelink universal remote, rear park-assist sensors, and a reversing camera. Yukon Hybrid models also include a navigation system and power-folding side mirrors.
The Yukon Denali trim features 12-way power front seats with ventilation, heated second-row bucket seats, heated steering wheel, Bose Centerpoint surround-sound audio system, and a power tailgate. The Denali has 20-inch wheels, and features a chrome grille and a side blind-zone alert system.
Under the HoodStandard in Yukon SLE and SLT trims is a 5.3-liter V-8 engine creating 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque, and featuring Active Fuel Management cylinder-deactivation technology to improve gas mileage. A 6-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the rear (2WD) or all 4 wheels (4WD).
The Yukon Denali trim is equipped with a 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 417 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard on this model is full-time all-wheel drive (AWD).
The Yukon Hybrid model is powered by GM's Two-Mode hybrid powertrain, comprised of a 6.0-liter V-8 engine with Active Fuel Management, automatic engine stop/start system, and a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride battery powering electric assist motors for a combined power rating of 332 horsepower. A full hybrid, the Yukon Hybrid can travel at low speeds on electricity alone, GMC says.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 GMC Yukon are:
- Yukon SLE/SLT 2WD: 15/21/17 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Yukon SLE/SLT 4WD: 15/21/17 mpg
- Yukon Denali AWD: 13/18/15 mpg
- Yukon Hybrid 2WD: 20/23/21 mpg
- Yukon Hybrid 4WD: 20/23/21 mpg
SafetyAll Yukon models are equipped with 6 air bags (side curtains protect occupants in the first two rows of seats), 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, and 6 months of free OnStar Automatic Crash Response service. Included on all trims except the SLE are rear park-assist sensors and a reversing camera. The Denali trim has a side blind-zone alert system.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2013 Yukon an overall crash-test rating of 4 (out of 5) stars. As this overview was written, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had not tested the 2013 Yukon.
