Exterior Features
The 2012 GMC Acadia is a full-size crossover utility vehicle offered in five different trim levels. Eighteen-inch alloy wheels are standard, with larger wheels available on higher grades.

Interior Features
The 2012 GMC Acadia offers seating for up to 8 passengers. Base models include air conditioning in the first and second rows, cloth upholstery, cruise control, 6-speaker audio system, 18-inch alloy wheels, and more. Higher trim levels are fitted with a power rear liftgate, auto-dimming rearview mirror, tri-zone climate control, rearview camera, heated mirrors, and other premium equipment.

Optional Features
While most of the optional equipment on the 2012 GMC Acadia is bundled with the trim level, a sunroof, rear-entertainment system, and a navigation system are optional on some models.

Under the Hood
All 2012 GMC Acadia models are fitted with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine rated at 288 horsepower. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) optional.

Safety
Standard safety features of note on the 2012 GMC Acadia include side curtain air bags for all three rows and a 1-year OnStar subscription. In government crash tests, the 2012 GMC Acadia received an overall rating of 5 (out of 5) stars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), In additional NHTSA tests, the Acadia received 5 stars in side crash tests, and 4 stars in frontal and rollover tests. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Acadia received a "Good" rating-the Institute's highest-for frontal-offset and side-impact crashes. The Acadia also earned a "Good" rating in the Institute's roof strength tests. The Acadia was an IIHS "Top Safety Pick" in 2011.
