Exterior Features
The Fusion is all-new for 2013. Ford sells the 2013 Fusion sedan in S, SE, SE Hybrid, Titanium, and Energi trim levels. Wheel sizes range from 16 to 19 inches in diameter, and the Fusion is equipped with a 16 cubic-foot trunk (12 cubic feet for Hybrid models). Standard features are automatic headlights and power blind-spot side mirrors.

Interior Features
Every 2013 Fusion S is equipped with air conditioning, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, CD player, auxiliary audio jack, cruise control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and Sync hands-free connectivity.

Optional Features
Among the many options for the 2013 Fusion are Active Park Assist, next-generation MyFord Touch, Sony premium sound, navigation, leather, power sunroof, and dual-zone climate control.

Under the Hood
The 2013 Fusion is equipped with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine creating 170 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the front wheels.

A direct-injection, turbocharged, 1.6-liter, EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine generates 179 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard; optional is a 6-speed automatic transmission with fuel-saving Auto Stop/Start technology.

Ford also offers a direct-injection, turbocharged, 2.0-liter, EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine delivering 237 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. The standard 6-speed automatic transmission includes paddle shifters, and an all-wheel-drive system is optional with this engine.

Hybrid models pair an Atkinson-cycle, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a Lithium-ion battery pack and an electric assist motor. Together these elements create 188 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) drives the front wheels.

The Energi trim features the Fusion Hybrid's powertrain, but for this model it is designed to offer limited pure electric range before the gasoline engine takes over, making the car an electric vehicle during shorter trips.

Fuel Economy
Ford's estimates for the various Fusion models are as follows:

• Fusion 2.5-liter with automatic transmission: 22/33 mpg (city/highway)
• Fusion 1.6-liter EcoBoost with automatic transmission: 26/37 mpg
• Fusion 2.0-liter EcoBoost with automatic transmission: 23/33 mpg
• Fusion Hybrid: 47/44 mpg
• Fusion Energi: 100 MPGe mpg

Safety
The 2013 Ford Fusion is equipped with 8 air bags, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with emergency brake assist, traction and stability control, and an SOS Post Crash Alert system that activates the hazard flashers, sounds the horn, and unlocks the doors in the event of a crash. The Fusion also comes with MyKey programmable safety features useful to parents of teenage drivers, as well as Sync connectivity with 911 Assist.

Available safety-related options include a reversing camera, lane-keeping system, blind-spot monitoring system, cross-traffic alert system, and adaptive cruise control.

As this overview was written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had performed crash tests on the all-new 2013 Ford Fusion.
