Exterior FeaturesThe 2013 Ford Fiesta is sold in hatchback or sedan body styles, in S, SE and new Titanium trim levels. Ford refers to the 2013 Fiesta's styling as "kinetic" design, pointing to "piercing dragon's-eye headlamps" and "razor-slash" side panels. Like other Ford models, the Fiesta is equipped with an Easy Fuel capless fuel filler that makes it easier to pump gas into the tank. Also standard are blind-spot side mirrors, along with 15-inch steel wheels with plastic wheel covers.
Interior FeaturesThe Fiesta features soft-touch interior surfaces combined with a variety of color and material choices. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, stereo with an auxiliary audio input jack, and floor mats.
Optional FeaturesFord offers numerous ways to personalize a Fiesta, including exterior body graphics, Interior Style packages in white or red leather, a Black Sport Appearance package with polished aluminum wheels, and LED parking lights.
Additional options include a Convenience package with power door locks, remote keyless entry, CD player for the S trim, and a Super Fuel Economy package that increases the highway fuel economy rating to 40 mpg for the SE trim level. The Fiesta can also be equipped with power windows, cruise control, aluminum wheels, power sunroof, Sync hands-free connectivity with App Link technology, premium sound system, Intelligent Access keyless entry with push-button start, leather seats, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and ambient cabin lighting in a choice of seven colors.
Under the HoodThe only engine available for the 2013 Fiesta is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder creating 120 horsepower and 112 lb.-ft. of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard. Optional is a 6-speed PowerShift dual-dry clutch automated manual transmission with hill-start assist.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Ford Fiesta are:
- Fiesta with manual transmission: 29/39/33 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Fiesta with PowerShift transmission: 29/39/33 mpg
- Fiesta with SFE package: 29/40/33 mpg
SafetyEvery 2013 Fiesta includes 7 standard air bags, including a driver's knee air bag. Also standard are anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, traction and stability control, and an SOS Post Crash Alert system that activates the hazard flashers, sounds the horn, and unlocks the doors after a collision. The optional Sync system includes 911 Assist service.
Crash-test ratings for the 2013 Fiesta were not available when this overview was written, but the structurally identical 2012 model received a 4-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a "Top Safety Pick" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
