Exterior Features
The 2012 Dodge Journey is a compact crossover SUV that resembles a small version of a traditional station wagon. In 2011, the Journey underwent considerable changes and upgrades, which carry over to 2012. Trim levels include SE, SXT, Crew, and R/T, which feature 16-inch, 17-inch, 19-inch, and 19-inch wheels, respectively. The R/T features some distinctive styling cues.

Interior Features
Standard features on the 2012 Dodge Journey SE trim include dual-zone manual climate control, 6-speaker sound system with steering-wheel-mounted controls, cruise control, keyless ignition and entry, and heated mirrors. The SXT features roof rails and a cargo cover, fog lights, LED taillights, and a V-6 engine. The Crew trim adds a power driver's seat, satellite radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift, automatic headlights, and Bluetooth connectivity. The R/T upgrades to black leather upholstery with red stitching.

Optional Features
Option packages are available at all trim levels of the 2012 Dodge Journey. The Comfort/Convenience package, the Popular Equipment package, and the Premium package are available with the lower trims, and package features are standard on the Crew and R/T. With the Crew, leather upholstery and a sunroof are available, in addition to a rear-seat entertainment system.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Dodge Journey SE's engine is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder rated at 173 horsepower that works with a 4-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD). Other trims are fitted with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine rated at 283 horsepower and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive (AWD) is optional with the V-6 engine.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Dodge Journey are:
- Journey with 4-cylinder engine: 19/26/22 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Journey with V-6 engine and FWD: 17/25/20 mpg
- Journey with V-6 engine and AWD: 16/24/19 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the Dodge Journey include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, and a full complement of air bags. Integrated child booster seats are available.

To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not conducted tests on the 20120 Dodge Journey. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2012 Dodge Journey received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for all crash protection.
