Exterior Features
The 2013 Dodge Durango is a midsize SUV with 3 rows of seats and 7-passenger capacity. The Durango is available in SXT, Crew, R/T, and Citadel trim levels. Standard equipment for the Durango SXT includes 18-inch aluminum wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, chrome exterior trim, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, and power heated exterior mirrors.

Interior Features
The 2013 Dodge Durango SXT includes standard triple-zone automatic climate control, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and cruise control. The stereo features a standard auxiliary audio input jack and satellite radio, and the Durango includes LED overhead lighting, a fold-flat front passenger seat, and a removable and rechargeable flashlight.

Optional Features
Dodge offers numerous options on the base Durango SXT, including a power sunroof, power driver's seat, parking sensors, and a reversing camera. The SXT can also be optioned with Uconnect Voice Command Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth streaming audio, USB port, navigation system, and hard-drive touch-screen entertainment system. A new Rallye Appearance Group provides the appearance of the R/T trim combined with a V-6 engine, adding 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, body-color exterior trim, darkened headlamp bezels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, Uconnect with Bluetooth audio streaming, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The 2013 Dodge Durango Crew trim is equipped with premium leather seats, heated front and rear seats, power front seats, power liftgate, keyless entry and push-button ignition, remote engine starting, parking sensors, reversing camera, the Uconnect touch-screen entertainment system, and a premium sound system. The Crew trim also offers a standard roof rack, memory for the driver's settings, universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Additional standard equipment includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 115-volt power outlet, and exterior mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators and auto-dimming glass on the driver's side.

Options for the Durango Crew trim include second-row captain's chairs, rear-seat entertainment system, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and a navigation system. Additional options include a V-8 engine, 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming headlights, blind-spot monitoring system, and rear cross-path detection system.

The 2013 Dodge Durango R/T trim includes a standard V-8 engine, dual exhaust outlets, lowered sport-tuned suspension, sport-tuned steering, 20-inch Satin Carbon aluminum wheels, unique front styling with HID headlights, and body-color exterior trim. Inside, the R/T offers vinyl-bolstered seats with suede inserts. Options for this model are similar to the Durango Crew trim, and a new Premium Leather Group includes perforated Nappa leather seats with red stitching, and heated and ventilated front seats.

The 2013 Dodge Durango Citadel trim is equipped with HID auto-dimming headlights, extra chrome exterior trim, premium Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, power sunroof, and a power tilt/telescoping heated steering wheel. Also standard are Uconnect navigation, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control with a forward-collision warning system, blind-spot monitoring system, and a rear cross-path detection system.

Options for the Citadel trim include a V-8 engine, trailer towing equipment, skid plates, second-row captain's chairs, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Under the Hood
All 2013 Durangos except for the R/T trim come standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine creating 290 horsepower (295 horsepower with the SXT Rallye Appearance Group). A 5-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the rear wheels (2WD), and the Durango V-6 is rated to tow up to 6,200 pounds.

A 5.7-liter V-8 engine is standard on the Durango R/T and optional on the Crew and Citadel trims. It delivers 360 horsepower and features a Fuel Saver mode designed to maximize fuel economy when coasting or cruising on the highway. Standard is a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift controls, and the Durango V-8 engine can tow up to 7,400 pounds.

Two all-wheel-drive (AWD) systems are available for the 2013 Durango. A full-time AWD setup is offered with the V-6 engine, while V-8 models can be equipped with an on-demand AWD system.

EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Dodge Durango are:

The 2013 Dodge Durango is equipped with 6 air bags, a traction and stability control system with roll stability control and trailer sway control, hill-start assist, and a 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brake system with ready-alert braking and brake assist.

Safety-related options include parking sensors, reversing camera, blind-spot monitoring system, and a rear cross-path detection system. The Durango can also be equipped with adaptive cruise control with a forward-collision warning system.

In crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2013 Durango received an overall rating of 4 (out of 5) stars. The Durango received 4 stars for front-passenger protection in a frontal-impact crash and a rating of 3 stars for rollover resistance for both the rear- and all-wheel-drive models. As this overview was written, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had not tested the 2013 Durango. However, the structurally identical 2012 model was named a "Top Safety Pick" by the Institute.
