Overview

Designed as a replacement for the Dodge Neon, the Caliber is a compact sedan offered with a choice of 4-cylinder engines and front-wheel drive. The SRT4 model, fitted with a turbocharged engine, is the sportiest model in the Caliber lineup. Dodge redesigned the interior for 2010, fitting the model with a new instrument panel and center storage area and dressed-up the cabin with more accents. There are also new 18-inch wheels on the SXT model.

  • Revised interior with a new dashboard and center storage area
  • New chrome accents dress up the cabin
  • New 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels on the SXT model

The Dodge Caliber, a compact hatchback sedan, has been an entry-level Dodge model since 2007, when it replaced the Neon in the Dodge lineup. The 2010 Dodge Caliber is offered in five new trim levels, all of them stepping up a little in luxury compared to Calibers of previous years.

The basic Express trim level has 15-inch wheels and cloth upholstery, air conditioning, a basic sound system, full power accessories, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and Bluetooth connectivity. Building on the express are the Mainstreet, Uptown, and Caliber Heat trim, which add larger wheels, leather upholstery, upgraded suspension components, and other features. The top-of-the-line Rush trim builds on Caliber Heat, adding a larger engine and a rear spoiler, as well as adding a touch screen and hard drive to the audio system. A sunroof and a navigation system are available as stand-alone options.

The Caliber has nearly 50 cu. ft. of cargo space, as well as unique features such as a beverage cooler in the glove compartment, a rechargeable LED flashlight, and stereo speakers that can be pointed outwards for parties.

The standard engine is a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 141 lb.-ft. of torque. A 172-hp, 2.4-liter engine that produces 165 lb.-ft. of torque is available on the Uptown trim, and standard with the Rush trim. Manual and automatic transmissions are available. EPA estimates for the smaller engine with manual transmission are 23 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined, while the larger engine delivers 23 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined

NHTSA gave the 2010 Caliber five stars on front- and side-impact tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the Caliber "Good" on frontal-offset tests and "Marginal" on side-impact tests.

Starting MSRP on the base level 2010 Dodge Caliber is $16,880.
