Sebring presents an all-new third generation for 2008. A sedan and a convertible built on Chrysler's D platform will present class-leading safety and technology, Chrysler hopes. The 2008 Sebring Convertible also features a new, available power-retractable hardtop.Model Lineup
The 2008 Chrysler Sebring is available as a sedan or convertible. Both share the same three engine choices and three trim levels (LX, Touring and Limited). According to Chrysler, the 2008 Sebring models are designed to offer more style, craftsmanship, performance and value.
The Sebring Sedan was all-new for 2007. The 2008 model introduces the Sebring Limited AWD model, the new single-disc MyGIG multimedia audio center with available navigation, standard Sirius satellite radio, and several new colors. The Touring model adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, 4-wheel disc brakes, power seating, a 276-watt Boston Acoustics sound system, and more. The Limited model gains two-tone leather seating, automatic climate control, fog lamps, and a host of other convenience features.
The new-for-2008 Sebring Convertible features a choice of three automatic latching roof options: vinyl, cloth, or a body-colored painted steel retractable hardtop. The folded roof disappears in the car's trunk-leaving enough room for two golf bags. As with the Sebring Sedan, the interior of the convertible was designed to be more upscale and offers stain- and odor-resistant YES Essentials cloth or heated and two-tone leather seating, depending on model.Powertrain
The standard engine on most 2008 Chrysler Sebring models is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder World Engine rated at 173 hp and 166 lb.-ft. of torque; EPA fuel economy estimates are 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway. The Touring models offer a larger 2.7-liter V-6 engine rated at 186 hp and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. This Flexible Fuel engine can operate effectively on any blend of gasoline and fuel-grade ethanol up to E85. EPA fuel economy estimates for the Flex Fuel engine are 19 mpg city/27 mpg highway. Both 2.4- and 2.7-liter engines are mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission powering the front wheels. The most powerful engine is offered on the Sebring Limited models; its 3.5-liter V-6 is rated at 235 hp and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic with Auto Stick feature. EPA fuel economy estimates for the 3.5-liter V-6 are 15 mpg city/26 mpg highway, depending on driveline. Unique to the Limited model is a new-for-2008 AWD option. To save fuel, this powertrain operates as front-wheel drive until extra traction is needed and the rear wheels are engaged. The basic limited warranty on the 2008 Sebring is 3 years/36,000 miles. In addition, Chrysler provides a lifetime powertrain warranty to all original owners, a first in the industry.Safety
The 2008 Chrysler Sebring Sedan is equipped with driver and front-passenger low-risk deployment frontal air bags, seat-mounted (thorax) side air bags, and side curtain air bags. The Sebring Convertible features driver and front-passenger low-risk deployment frontal air bags and seat-mounted (thorax) side air bags. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) are standard equipment on all models. The infant/child seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system is standard; with stability and traction control an option. An electronic stability program (ESP) is standard on Sebring Limited AWD models.Technology
The 2008 Chrysler Sebring Sedan and Convertible feature the MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System, a cutting-edge combination of navigation, information and entertainment. Centered on a 6.5-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display with touch-screen capability, the 20 gigabyte hard-drive-based system follows voice-activated commands to manage navigation, audio, movies, and personalized pictures. Sirius satellite radio and Bluetooth technology are standard. Some of the features of MyGIG include a microphone integrated into the rearview mirror to allow three-minute voice memos to be recorded, DVD movies to be played on the unit at speeds below 5 mph, and JPEG pictures to be displayed on the screen. A Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection provides MP3 connectivity and downloading of WMA, MP3 and JPEG files onto the hard drive.
