Exterior Features
The 2012 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan that shares a platform with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The 300 is available in the base model trim, Limited, 300S V6, 300S V8, 300C, and the high-performance SRT8 trim. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) available. Wheel sizes range from 17 to 20 inches. Exterior features added to upper trims include chrome-clad or polished aluminum wheels, performance tires, diverse styling elements, and various suspension tunings. The 300C's Executive Series features special chrome trim.

Interior Features
The 2012 Chrysler 300 base model features automatic dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, power accessories, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 6-speaker sound system. The Limited adds leather upholstery with heated front seats, more power accessories, and Bluetooth connectivity. The 300S adds a premium sound system and leather upholstery as optional. The 300C adds a navigation system, upgraded lights, automatic wipers, and more, while the SRT8 offers Brembo brakes, sport steering wheel, sport seats, an exclusive interior trim, bi-Xenon headlights, added safety features, and much more.

Optional Features
Many upper-trim features are optional on lower trims, including leather seats and premium audio.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Chrysler 300 standard powertrain is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that works with a 5-speed automatic transmission or optional 8-speed automatic to deliver 292 horsepower. The 300S V8 and the 300C upgrade to a 5.7-liter V-8 engine rated at 363 horsepower, with the same transmission choices. The SRT8 features a 6.3-liter V-8 rated at 470 horsepower that works with a 5-speed automatic transmission (with paddle shifters) and produces 470 lb.-ft. of torque.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Chrysler 300 are:
- 300 with V-6 engine and RWD: 19/31/23 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- 300 with 5.7-liter V-8 engine and RWD: 16/25/19 mpg
- 300 SRT8: 14/23/17 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the Chrysler 300 include anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, front-seat side air bags, side curtain air bags, and knee air bags. Optional features include a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring system, cross-path warning system, and forward-collision warning system.

To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not conducted tests on the 2012 Chrysler 300. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Chrysler 300 received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for all crash protection.
