Overview

The Chevrolet Traverse is a full-size crossover SUV that was introduced for the 2009 model year. Sharing platforms with the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave, the Traverse offers seating for up to 8 passengers within its 4-door cabin. Built on a carlike unibody platform, the Traverse replaced both the TrailBlazer and Uplander in Chevrolet's lineup. Other than minor equipment changes, the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse remains mostly unchanged.

The 2011 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in four trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ. Standard Traverse LS models arrive with 8-passenger seating, air conditioning, cloth upholstery, cruise control, 6-speaker audio system, split-folding second- and third-row seating, 17-inch steel wheels, and more. The Traverse 1LT is upgraded with heated side-view mirrors, 8-way power driver seat, trip computer, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear parking sensors, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The upscale Traverse 2LT adds tri-zone climate control, captain's chair seating for 7 passengers, power liftgate, rear backup camera, 10-speaker Bose audio system with USB port, rear audio controls, and more. The range-topping Traverse LTZ is equipped with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, Bluetooth phone connectivity, 20-inch alloy wheels, and more. Options include a navigation system, towing package, sunroofs, and a rear-seat DVD-based entertainment system.

The 2011 Chevrolet Traverse is offered with only one engine choice, but with two different horsepower ratings. The standard power plant is a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engine rated at 281 horsepower in the LS and LT models, but 288 horsepower in the LTZ model with dual exhaust. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with an all-wheel-drive system optional for those seeking more traction in inclement weather. Properly equipped, the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse is rated to tow up to 5200 pounds. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse between 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, depending on powertrain.

The 2011 Chevrolet Traverse LS FWD starts at a base price of around $30,000, and the model range tops out with the Traverse LTZ AWD, which starts at around $39,500.
