Exterior FeaturesChevrolet offers the 8-passenger Tahoe in LS, LT and Hybrid trim levels. The Tahoe LS features dark-tinted rear privacy glass, heated side mirrors, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Hybrid models have lightweight 18-inch wheels and unique styling details that improve aerodynamics and fuel economy, according to Chevy.
Interior FeaturesThe standard LS trim includes triple-zone air conditioning, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless entry, leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power front seats, fabric seats, and floor mats. Bluetooth connectivity is standard. The 6-speaker stereo features satellite radio and a USB port, and the Tahoe is equipped with OnStar telematics service.
Optional FeaturesThe Tahoe LT trim adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, Bose premium audio system, automatic climate control, power-adjustable pedals, remote engine starting, rear park-assist sensors, and fog lights.
Hybrid models include the same features as the LT, plus a touch-screen navigation system, reversing camera, and power-folding side mirrors.
The Tahoe LTZ trim has perforated leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated second-row bucket seats with power release, heated steering wheel, and a power tailgate. The LTZ rides on 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, and features chrome exterior trim, Autoride suspension, and a side blind-zone alert system.
Under the HoodThe 2013 Tahoe is equipped with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine featuring Active Fuel Management cylinder-deactivation technology. The engine generates 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 6-speed automatic transmission feeds power to the rear (2WD) or all four wheels (4WD).
The Tahoe Hybrid model features GM's 2-Mode hybrid powertrain, a 6.0-liter V-8 engine with Active Fuel Management, electric assist motors, and a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride battery that provides 332 horsepower. The Tahoe Hybrid is a full hybrid, meaning it can travel at low speed on electricity alone. This system features automatic stop/start technology to conserve fuel.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Chevy Tahoe are:
- Tahoe 2WD: 15/21/17 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Tahoe 4WD: 15/21/17 mpg
- Tahoe Hybrid 2WD: 20/23/21 mpg
- Tahoe Hybrid 4WD: 20/23/21 mpg
SafetyEvery 2013 Tahoe is equipped with 6 air bags, but the side curtains protect occupants in the first two rows of seats only. Also standard are 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, and 6 months of free OnStar service including Automatic Crash Response. Included on all trims except the LS are rear park-assist sensors. The Hybrid and LTZ trims have a reversing camera, and the LTZ gets a side blind-zone alert system.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2013 Tahoe achieves an overall crash-test rating of 4 (out of 5) stars, while rollover resistance is rated 3 stars for both the 2WD and 4WD models.
