What's New for 2012:
- The Chevrolet Sonic is an all-new sub-compact model
The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is a 4-door sub-compact that is available in either sedan or hatchback body styles and offered in three trim levels. Fifteen-inch alloy wheels are standard.
The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic seats 5 passengers, and offers 14 cubic feet of trunk space in its sedan variant. The hatchback model provides 19 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and up to 30.7 cubic feet of space when the rear seats are folded down. Base LS models come standard with the OnStar system, air conditioning, power door locks, keyless entry, and a 4-speaker AM/FM stereo. LT trims get an upgraded sound system, full power accessories, and upgraded cloth upholstery. The top-of-the-line Sonic LTZ trim level adds cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, and heated leatherette front seats.
Moving up in trim level adds most of the available options for the Sonic. Depending on the trim level, Chevrolet offers some stand-alone options, such as upgraded seats, painted aluminum wheels, sunroof and a remote starter system. The Wheels & Fog Lamp package dresses up the LT trim level with 16-inch alloy wheels and fog lamps.

The turbocharged engine comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the base engine comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission. However, models with the base engine are also available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. All Sonics are front-wheel drive.
