Overview
Chevrolet Silverado heavy-duty models are offered in 2500HD (three-quarter ton) and 3500HD (one-ton) models, and are available in WT, LT and LTZ trim. Three cab styles, three cargo box styles and five wheelbase lengths are available. Changes for 2010 are minor and include a pair of new exterior colors and the inclusion of a USB port on all but the base radio.
- New USB connectivity in center console, enabling stored audio files to play through the audio system and battery charging for some handheld devices
- Two new exterior colors: Taupe Gray Metallic and Sheer Silver Metallic
With a top payload capacity of 5,307 lbs., and a towing capacity (when properly equipped) of 8.25 tons, the Silverado 3500HD is designed for continuous heavy duty use. The Silverado 3500HD is available with a choice of two V8 engines: one gas powered and one that uses diesel fuel.
All 3500HDs come with an eight-foot bed. Three cab styles are available: regular, extended, and crew. With extended and crew cabs, buyers can choose between single or dual rear wheels, and those models are also available in the top-line LTZ trim. The base Work Truck trim level has 16-inch wheels, air conditioning, trip computer, OnStar, and a radio. The mid-level LT trim adds a CD player, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, and some power features. The top-line LTZ trim includes a locking rear differential, a heavy-duty trailer package, leather upholstery, upgraded wheels, more power features, and an upgraded sound system. Available options on the LT and LTZ include a power-sliding rear window, a navigation system, power folding mirrors, an extensive off-road package, and EZ-Lift tailgate. The LTZ offers an optional sunroof and rear seat entertainment system.
The Work Truck and LT trims have three-person front bench seating as standard and bucket seats are optional. The LTZ trim has a more luxurious, less truck-like interior, featuring wood and metallic accents.
The standard engine on the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is a 360-hp, 6.0-liter V8 engine that produces 380 lb.-ft. of torque. A 365-hp, 6.6-liter turbodiesel Duramax V8, which produces 660 lb.-ft. of torque, is optional. Both engines have a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional.
The 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD starts with an MSRP of $27,685.
