Overview

Chevrolet Silverado heavy-duty models are offered in 2500HD (three-quarter ton) and 3500HD (one-ton) models, and are available in WT, LT and LTZ trim. Three cab styles, three cargo box styles and five wheelbase lengths are available. Changes for 2010 are minor and include a pair of new exterior colors and the inclusion of a USB port on all but the base radio.

  • New USB connectivity in center console, enabling stored audio files to play through the audio system and battery charging for some handheld devices
  • Two new exterior colors: Taupe Gray Metallic and Sheer Silver Metallic

A heavy-duty version of the standard Chevrolet pickup truck, the Silverado 2500HD is a stablemate of the GMC Sierra HD. The mechanical features are the same, but the Silverado gets its own interior and exterior styling. For 2010, Chevrolet says the Silverado 2500HD has a spacious cab with workmanlike controls, but with various touches of luxury. Properly equipped, some models of the 2500HD can tow up to 13,000 lbs. Payloads, depending on cab size and engine type, range from 2,500 to 3,900 lbs. A new V8 engine has been added for 2010, along with slight tweaks to the sound system and a coupee of new colors

The 2010 Silverado 2500HD is offered in regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab styles. Regular cabs are coupeed with a 98-inch bed, while extended and crew cabs come with the long bed or a 78-inch bed. The base Work Truck trim level has 16-inch wheels, air conditioning, trip computer, OnStar, and a radio. The mid-level LT trim adds a CD player, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, and some power features. The top-line LTZ trim, which is available only with the extended and crew cabs, adds a locking rear differential, a heavy-duty trailer package, leather upholstery, upgraded wheels, more power features, and an upgraded sound system. The LTZ trim has a more luxurious interior, featuring wood and metallic accents. Many other luxury features are optional

All models of the 2500 HD have rear-wheel drive as standard, with four-wheel drive optional. The standard engine for the 2010 Silverado 2500HD is a new 360-hp, 6.0-liter V8 that produces 380 lb.-ft. of torque. It's coupeed with a six-speed automatic transmission. Optional is a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 engine that boosts the torque to 660 lb.-ft. Chevy says the Duramax engine is also more fuel-efficient.

The 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 starting MSRP ranges from $27,465 to $43,405.
