Exterior Features
The Chevrolet Express is a traditional full-size van available as a passenger carrier, with side windows and seating for up to 15 passengers, or as a panel-sided cargo van. The Express is available in different chassis weights and with different wheelbases, and is often used for commercial purposes--e.g., as a shuttle for business clients or as an equipment hauler. The Chevrolet Express is available in three models: the light-duty 1500 Series and the heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 Series. The Express Passenger Van is offered in 14 trims and configurations, while the Express Cargo Van is offered in 10 trims. Two wheelbase lengths are available, with a heavy-duty wheelbase available for commercial use.

Interior Features
Standard features on the base LS trim of the passenger version include air conditioning, swing-out side doors, vinyl upholstery, rubber floor covering, basic AM/FM sound system, and seating for 12 passengers. The 2500 and 3500 Series Express passenger vans seat up to 15 passengers. The LT trim adds full power accessories, remote keyless entry, rear air conditioning, full-length carpeting, cloth upholstery, cruise control, and other features. Depending on model and trim, cargo space in the Express Cargo Van extends to 270 cubic feet.

Optional Features
Options on the Chevrolet Express include alloy wheels, Trailering package, sliding side doors, remote vehicle starting, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Cold Climate package.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Chevrolet Express is offered with five different engines. Standard rear-wheel-drive models feature a 4.3-liter V-6 engine rated at 195 horsepower, with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Larger engines include a 4.8-liter V-8 rated at 280 horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 rated at 310 horsepower, and a 6.0-liter V-8 rated at 323 horsepower. The larger engines work with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A turbocharged diesel engine, displacing 6.6 liters and rated at 260 horsepower, is also available. All-wheel drive is optional on some configurations.

Fuel Economy
Depending on model and trim, EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Chevrolet Express range from 10 mpg in the city to 20 mpg on the highway.

Safety
Standard safety features on the Chevrolet Express include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, OnStar communications, and head curtain side-impact air bags for the first three rows of seating.

To date, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has tested the 2012 Chevrolet Express.
